I have been working at Rent The Runway full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Camaraderie; collegiality; culture; cohesiveness. Deep engineering knowledge across the full tech team and willingness to share that knowledge. Involvement, engagement, and inclusiveness from the founders. Fantastic morale builders: No dumb foosball-table gestures here, we instead use Bonusly and other ways of showing we appreciate each others' efforts on a daily basis.

    Cons

One of the ten company slogans is "scrappy not crappy" - and, while this usually leads to ingenious and inventive low cost solutions to problems, and I love it for that, it can also sometimes mean the perks aren't as cushy as they may be at a huge employer. We're competing for talent with Google but not offering quite the level of lavishness. I think this is okay but it could be a bummer for some.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, for the most part. I wish we could go back to the unlimited vacation policy that was abandoned just before I joined the company.

    Pros

    - coworkers are fun and friendly
    - discounted dress rentals
    - the people who have been with the company for years are great resources
    - if you want to learn something just ask, colleagues will always encourage you to take on a new task

    Cons

-leaders are extremely unprofessional, don't expect to get promoted if you're not spending majority of your day in an office with the door closed
    - Leadership is based on favoritism
    - Walls dividing conference rooms are pretty thin, leadership need to watch what they say about people and what they talk about during work hours. YOUR PERSONAL CONVERSATIONS CAN BE HEARD!
    - HR really needs to be more involved

    Advice to Management

HR, please stop hiding downstairs, we are begging you!

Long hours during the few weeks leading up to Board of Directors' meetings

    Pros

RTR is so unique in that we've reached a large size, but still have a family feel. Executives are really passionate about the business and this cascades across the company. We have so many fun events, we celebrate successes and truly care about each other in a way that is so uniquely RTR. Everyone at the company knows what our goals and mission is, and it feels like we're all working together to make this service even better!

    Cons

We work hard and play hard - you have to be comfortable with change and moving quickly. We work long hours because we care so much!

At this time, I do not find any cons.

    Pros

Innovative and creative environment where you're encouraged to voice your opinion and it's heard and appreciated. My first few months at RTR have been wonderful, thanks to my team!

    Cons

This is not a con, but more of a warning. It takes a certain type of individual to work in such a fast paced environment, and you need to think on your toes and be comfortable voicing your opinion.

    Pros

There are none. The distribution center the so called life of RTR is the worst to work.

    Cons

Company motto of customers first. But the employees are last.

    Advice to Management

Go all out for your employees as you do for the customers. Bagels Fridays is not enough. No need to Micro-manage the workers.

I worked at Rent The Runway full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

health insurance (I opted out but I heard it's decent)

    Cons

favoritism across the board, managers make several false promises, no room for growth, no raise, hours are crazy, high performers are treated unfairly (since numbers are high, they don't want to promote you because you're too valuable to the floor)

    Advice to Management

get rid of the current leads and head of department and hire new ones

    Pros

    - Young, casual culture - love my co-workers!
    - You are encouraged to be innovative
    - Hiring and training development have greatly improved over the last 6 months. Therefore, turnover has decreased.
    - Great opportunities to get involved and grow in the department/company

    Cons

    - Scheduling is not released until a month prior (sometimes less notice). However, there has recently been improvement with this.
    - Work/life balance - shifts may effect your work/life balance (late shifts, weekends, most holidays)
    - Shuttle service from Secaucus junction is not always reliable

    Advice to Management

    - Be careful with favoritism
    - Release schedule further in advance

Overall, management has tremendously improved and created a better work environment.

I have been working at Rent The Runway full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I accepted the job at Rent the Runway for the dedication to data

Nearly every feature is rolled out as a test. Difficult problems are often made less so with simpler data-collecting experiments. Changes to the on-call process, for example, come with a trial. Ideas, no matter the source, are tested and judged on their merits alone. The coffee, bagels, juices, fruit, snacks, and drinks... that's more personal preference.

I have stayed at Rent the Runway for the culture

From the knowledge sharing, to the diverse individual interests, to the month-long paternity leave, to the blameless retrospectives, to the recognition, to the accessibility of every employee, to beach and ski day, to the access to information, and beyond, the culture of Rent the Runway is what gets me up in the morning. (ok, that, and kids)

    Cons

Rent the Runway is a company in a sort of corporate adolescence, dealing with same issues you would expect from equally-sized, private, profitable companies.
