I worked at Republic Plastics full-time

    Pros

Friendly Co-workers, all the OT you want. (Its mandatory)
Lost 7lbs working here. (Its very hot inside)

    Cons

If I could I would send people to work here as a form of punishment. 12 hour shifts 2 15min breaks 1 30min lunch that start as soon as your told your on break. I timed this. With walking out of the work area and back it cuts out 3 minutes at a brisk pace. Its also 30° hotter inside keep in mind this is Az. Operations run at a high pace regardless of being short handed. This leaves you and everyone taking on multiple rolls and litterally running for 12hours.

I have been working at Republic Plastics as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very fun and fast paced job where your skills will be challenged and your work ethic put to use.

    Cons

Some times it is hard to get on full time, and the job positions where you need to get on for full time are hard to get.

I have been working at Republic Plastics (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and the shift hours are excellent, also the on the floor people are great. It can be a great environment.

    Cons

Sexist, chivalrous environment, from the top down. Shameful it's 2016 and women still can't get a chance in this company

    Pros

Above average pay for supervisory role, good benefits, company pays 85% of medical insurance, rotating schedule allows you to have a decent life balance. Jeans casual workplace.

    Cons

Little opportunity for promotion, 1970's management style, over-values loyalty more than competence, high level of micro-management, zero team building events, people reluctant to offer improvement ideas, as these are often rejected then 3 to 4 months later are presented by someone else. Perfect example of INSANITY; they continue to do the exact same things with the expectation of achieving different results. Meetings are focused on main 2 things, increasing efficiency and quarterly bonus achievements. At least 90% contract/seasonal labor.

    Advice to Management

Stop running the business as a mom/pop shop, realize it has grown significantly in the last 16 years in order to be a better organization you need to start trusting those that don't belong to the inner circle.

I have been working at Republic Plastics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Anyone can start at the bottom and work their way up. Satisfying work that provides a product wanted and needed by the public. Work schedule, only work 7 out of 14 days.

    Cons

If starting or raising a family, night shift poses some difficulties.

I worked at Republic Plastics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were excellent ! Although improvements have been made, the overall condition of this facility is generally good. Pay is better than average & most full-timers will go out of their way to answer questions or show a simpler method. Teamwork is encouraged throughout.

    Cons

Republic has a temp. agency that places employees in different positions daily. No matter what their skill level. Twelve hour shifts & minimal breaks ( if any ) do not allow for proper rest. Training for new employees is not supervised by management. The facility is HOT ! Summer time the facility stays between 85- 120 degrees; Winter, well there isn't much winter in South Texas. The facility is bearable from Nov. - mid Feb. The points system for tardiness needs to be revised. To many younger employees ( kids ) just there to collect a check. Although horse play is not acceptable, conversations between coworkers is discouraged, regardless of the topic. Taking too long of a lunch or restroom break results in being written up. A skilled employee or one with credible ideas wont be heard. Giving a month in advance for vacation is not always accepted. If your a prior service military or civil service don't bother. Management does not seem to want or have the need for veterans. Quarterly meetings usually do not mean anything other than a poorly planned lunch. True results are far & few in-between. In a very short time there were too many " near misses " With the use of high pressure systems, qualified mechanics are lacking. Working in the plant could possibly result in fatalities if safety issues are not addressed.

    Advice to Management

Just because an employee has been with the company for a long time does NOT mean they are leaders. People skills do not come easy to everyone. Too many chiefs & not enough indians. Proper security measures need to be addressed. Ie: 50000 gallon fire cracker waiting to be lit !

    Pros

Good pay for small to mid sized manufacturing company. Mostly great people to work with. Upper management never rests on its laurels, always trying to improve.

    Cons

A little too much disconnect between sites. Expectations could be a little clearer up front. Business dynamics make for a fairly dynamic work environment.

    Advice to Management

Make sure talented people know there is a career path for them.

    Pros

Interesting hours. 12 hours on for two or three days and then two or three days off.

    Cons

People here are treated like prisoners. Not even allowed to go into the parking lot to get something from your car. Might as well call it Republic Prisons. Suspensions are handed out for being sick and for having a bad attitude. There is no such thing as paid work leave for a death in the family. Cell phones are not allowed on the floor. Not even for emergencies. Since the business is seasonal, employees take a pay cut during the down season. This is a very unprofessional outfit.
