I have been working at Republic Services (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not much so far fleet mechanics suck!

    Cons

The fleet mechanics have too much to do and not enough time to do it, hence the tricks never get fixed and are unsafe to drive.. This includes some serious matters like seat belts and the pump on your truck being weird to be constantly on so it works but bypasses all safety precaution measures that the company would want us to follow! ! The maintenance here in pleasant grove utah is a joke, a 9 billion dollar a year company so be able to fix this as I assume it is causing them to loose money and most important is unsafe! !

    Advice to Management

Get new trucks or fix the ones you have! ! ! ! ! !

I worked at Republic Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits! Only pro was the few individuals that made the day go faster other than that everyone had an exit strategy!

    Cons

Do not rewards long time employees for promotions! Toxic environment! So many drivers with years of experience apply for operations supervisor and would never get hire because of the politics at that location!

I have been working at Republic Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady job. No lay offs since I have been here. Supervisors try and help resolve issues caused by upper management.

    Cons

Too many upper level managers. Company is top heavy and is not supportive of the people out making the money to pay their salaries.

    Advice to Management

Get back to picking up trash! Service customers and stop with the paperwork!

I have been working at Republic Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Longevity of employees and experience.

    Cons

Asking far to much of employees in support and management roles. Only adding responsibilities without resources out support because it's costs money. This year our drivers received a 2.75% raise while the support departments only received 1.5%. Merritt raises do not exist. Only cost of living that fall below inflation at only 1.5%.

    Advice to Management

Jobs have become have become a numbers game with to many people pulling us in a million directions without coronation or thought to the responsibilities we are asked to complete. Need to understand and lay out clear job duties and responsibilities and stay within those boudries to allow our jobs to be done correctly.

I worked at Republic Services full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and a really great safety program where you earn points for being sabre amd use points to get really cool products.

    Cons

They bought out the company i was working for amd when they did they fired all the good management and kept and hired people who had no clue. Didn't pay their bills so we had allot of vendors coming in trying to fight.

    Advice to Management

Hire better and more caring middle management who help the workers not just themselves. Pay more attention to the work force and give them what they need to succeed.

I have been working at Republic Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They have tons of money, decent benefits, and a willingness to spend.

    Cons

Absolutely no Direction, everyone who wants a project funded gets it funded. Even though they may have five other products just like the one you want to implement, it will get funded, and they'll try to figure out a purpose or use for it once its complete. They lack security, they have little or no IT security, they are in a outsourcing mood, they will outsource any thing they can, but again seem to do it in the most wasteful manner possible.

    Advice to Management

Hire a PMO that has some power, Hire a CIO, that has some technical vision, Hire a Director of IT that, is more concerned with IT, than when his next vacation is. Hire a corporate IT Architect, to implement vision., Keep existing staff, happy, and move as much as possible to the cloud, and get rid of the millions wasted in geographically diverse data centers.
