    Pros

Usually there are no layoffs, however when there are, management favors the the company suck asses

    Cons

they always want you do complete more work with less resources and then complain when job isnt done

    Advice to Management

Get your heads out of your assess and realize there is a manager within the company that likes to see other managers fail in hopes he will be promoted to a higher position

    Pros

Compensation is somewhat in line with competition.
Bonus, if actually achievable, is generous. Although 50% of 0 is still 0.

    Cons

Company is highly centralized, be it on a Corporate or Regional level. Very little is controlled by the local markets.
RSG loves standards, employees can take very little action, must be within the standards.

    Advice to Management

Talk is cheap, actually put the what your saying into action.
Put your people first, and realize your best players are in the field; not at the region or corporate level.
Empower employees locally, then hold them accountable for their actions.

    Pros

Large company with many business units that you can work at. The majority of the people that work in the "trenches" are good, hard workers that want to make a difference and want the company to do well.

    Cons

Poor upper management...managers with no business being in a leadership roll. The Phoenix division is stuck in the "this is how we have always done it mode" and no one wants to move outside the box and look at what needs to be done to grow the company. Too many layers...you need to get approval from the division level, area level, region level and then corporate level just do do something that males sense to the customer. No strategic marketing plan in place, no on site technical support at the division level, no rewards or praise for a job well done. Certain departments, such as Operations, are treated like royalty while others are pushed down, beat up and made to feel worthless. Managers that want to make a difference are given a million reasons why things cannot be changed and are driven to leave the company. Human Resources is a joke...they don't understand the meaning of employee relations or fair practices. Overall, a stress filled place to work with no hope for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Take a real hard look at your individual business units. Stop spouting off "The One Republic Way" and start doing something to make the divisions a better place to work. The company as a whole will fail as the smaller business units drag it down. Also, clean house...get rid of the managers and GM's that should not be around...just because you have worked in the industry for 10 years does not mean you should lead a business unit or team! Jim O'Conner needs to come to the divisions and see what REALLY goes on!!!!

    Pros

Some good drivers to work with- most office staff very friendly. The cookouts- when they had them were good. The customers are understanding.

    Cons

They stopped the cookouts after enough time as to let the anti-union meeting wear off. They think the drivers are uneducated and do not know how to stand up for themselves by using the system. They don't seem to understand that respect is earned- not given." They" is used to replace Managment- for they have no traits to support their title.

    Advice to Management

Mr. O'Connor-- I saw your budget for relocating and private airplane use---- very nice-- Do you know that you have drivers with two jobs to make ends meet ?????

    Pros

benefits are decent- dental is awful, commission is very average not above, especially with the amount of unsatisfied customers. Drivers are usually friendly and easy to work with.

    Cons

Terrible Management of operations and sales department and disrespect for employees. The company has a very poor name around many areas. The management level have very little experience outside of the company- resulting in extremely poor leadership, lack of versatility and people skills. The company pricing, especially within Illinois, is not competitive nor does the company have a good name regarding Allied Waste when it comes to the Central Illinois area & into Indiana. Consistent customer complaints leads to many cancellations and thus decrease any type of commission. Companies computer systems are also a bit cumbersome to use.

    Advice to Management

Extremely disappointing to see valuable people leave the company b/c of poor, inefficient management in place. The worst part is many of the smaller locations, still using "Allied Waste" name are extremely tainted within the communities due to poor upper management and not getting top notch people in place.

    Pros

Safety is a priority. They are the second largest next to Waste Management

    Cons

Poor commission and bonus plans. Not designed to promote sales. Upper management is not trained in soft skills and does not know how to motivate employees, Company does not promote within. No upward mobility. It is a good ole boy style of running a company which is outdated and ineffective. Computer software is cumbersome and should be eliminated. Pressure from management to achieve un-realistic goals based off of hypothetical numbers. Service to customers is not as important as sales numbers. Very narrow outlook, they are only concerned with the here and now and because of it they find themselves reactive instead of proactive. Very poor process

    Advice to Management

Stop following the advice of third party companies and develop the talent within the company. Management needs to have hands on sales experience not hired because of who they know. It is time for management to respect their customers and change the dynamics of how they conduct daily business. They need to focus on brand recognition and increase their mass marketing.

    Pros

Benefits are decent but not the better compared to other companies
    Flexible Schedule
and it is hard to name any other pros.

    Cons

Very poor commission and bonus structure. Unrealistc cold calling expectations and goals based off "on let's just pick a number". Outdated Sales Management Software. Company does not promote within. Low morale among employees. No incentive to keep you motivated. Not user friendly billling system with unlimited billing errors. Arrogant, condescending upper level management with no soft skill whom do not know how to lead employees. Disrespect to employees. Little to no communication in all Divisions- all Departments. Sales Managers that lack of selling skills, and afraid to get in the field and knock on some doors; when they do ride along with a rep. is to only to shadow the rep. providing no assistance and unable to make decisitions rigth in there in front of the customer. Takes an "act of congress" to get anything done, or resolve. Poor sales training. Hands on job almost immediately and additional training may take days, weeks to get, no one seem to have answers to your questions, but you're expected to bring in results from day one. Pressure from management to achieve un-realistic goals based of guessed numbers not allowing you to build customer relation, follow up, and concentrate in selling. Micro-managment. Unorganized processes Company overall lacks a sense of urgency to customer and or employees needs. No problem solving within timely manner. Highest market pricing, Company has a bad name among businesses in Houston area which makes it almost impossible to hit your goal not to say that if you add all that required from you- cold calling, lead generation, prospecting, phone blocking, appointments, daily data input, paperwork processing, etc., etc., etc. there is not enough time in the day/week to complete your tasks, much less, quality time to spend prospecting and build customer relation, not enough time fo follow up, and finally make the sell everyone is waiting for except the rep that sold it because after all the hard work, aches, the pay out does not justify all the stress, time, effort that you put into it.
OVERALL this company is very CONSISTENT in lacking of communication; very poor processes that change day-to-day; being disrespectul, and careless about customers and employees; extremely poor leadership; micromanagement; I also want to make it clear, this comment represents everything that I've seem and experienced within this organization.

    Advice to Management

Listen/ Care about your customers meet their needs, and provide the "excellence service" "cost savings" you want to brand, but do not provide.
Listen/ Care about your employees whom day to day are being disrecpect by incompetent upper management and sales rep that are just there to collect a check - In the sales field there is actually a high number of reps that do care about playing by your rules, following your politics, and are really fighting/ pushing for company grow, I was one of them- ALL FOR NOTHING. There's also a lot of others reps that stay in the office all day only working from your outdated sales system, and collecting leads from call center instead of being out in the field. As a result you may think a lot of customers, and employees are happy with the Company and their services, but reality of it is - This Company DOES NOT MEET customers/ employees expectations.
