I have been working at Research Foundation of State University New York full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to work at a state of the art university system with great equipment. Freedom to conduct research as the PI sees fit.

    Cons

I do not have many cons for working for the SUNY Research Foundation, my experience has been very pleasant. Perhaps the only negative is the levels of bureaucracy that certain tasks need to go through, but that is typical of most universities.

    Advice to Management

Continue to do what you are doing because it is working effectively. Perhaps more frequent emails regarding administrative changes and policy updates.

    Pros

This job opportunity is great for students! You would have to seek employment through the school. The management is great and really looks out for your best interest.

    Cons

There are really no cons I can find for this job. I really like it. I would definitely continue working here if I was not applying to graduate school.

    Pros

The research opportunity is first-rate. The faculties and students are motivated and driven. I had some of the most interesting conversations in my life while having lunch with my peers and mentors here. NY city is not too far.

    Cons

The living cost is excessive. The pay is too little. Food on campus is not great. There is very little to do close to campus. Housing situation is pretty bad.

    Advice to Management

Student housing should be expanded and renovated specially the grad students. It is hard enough to live on the pittance we get. If then we are forced to live in overpriced coupes for several years, it is not good for our mental health.

I have been working at Research Foundation of State University New York part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health benefit. Flexible working time. Low working pressure. Relative free work space.i enjoy my work currently. Recommend for graduate student.

    Cons

The salary is low and could only cover basic living expense. The project is going slow and learning curve is shallow. Need more opportunities to grow as a student

    Advice to Management

Better timeline management is the most necessary step to produce more successful project and more qualified student. The salary should be adjusted by the increasing living expense.
