I have been working at Resource - Minnesota part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great place to work for. Great boss and you see how you can bring effective change in the company. Great part time position for the pay is good. But I wouldn't work there full time mostly due to inconsistent policies by the management. But non profit does tend to do that mostly because fundings change, goals change, evaluations change. So be prepared to handle change.

    Cons

Trainers are sometime overworked with not much break in between (end up answering student questions)

    Pros

PTO and vacation time was good

    Cons

Overworked! Vision statement about Undoing racism is a joke! Very hostile and micro- management environment! Employees are stressed and unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Stop the madness. Youre losing a lot of good people! Treat everyone equally!

    Pros

The population serviced appreciate the services provided to them and this makes working at Resource rewarding. The opportunity to be a change agent while positively impacting lives is what this agency encourages.

    Cons

Agency managers are over extended managing too many programs. No leadership opportunities if you're not a manager or director. Health insurance cost for employee plus family/dependents is expensive.

    Advice to Management

Be more inclusive in leadership roles/opportunities for employees from diverse cultural backgrounds.

I have been working at Resource - Minnesota full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The agency provides ample sick and vacation time to its employees. Under certain programs and management, they allow for a fairly flexible work schedule. A percentage of supervision is available to staff seeking licensure as LICSW.

    Cons

Pay seems to be lower than comparable positions in the community. Lack of consistency in management across programs. Organization seems to be growing in breadth while and sacrificing depth currently.

    Advice to Management

Management could be more thoughtful of agency changes, making sure there is enough funding to fairly pay employees. Increase transparency to employees within the agency.

I worked at Resource - Minnesota full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They had an excellent health and dental plan in 2010-2013. Great place for work-life balance. The work could be challenging and rewarding. If you like making a difference for non-profits this was a great place.

    Cons

non-profits pay lower. Had to work 3 jobs to make ends meet. New president flipped everything upside down, and lots of people were let go.

I worked at Resource - Minnesota full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty much everything at this company was wonderful: the people, the mission, the message, the clients, the atmosphere. I loved being able to help, albeit indirectly, to make the lives of others at least a little bit better.

    Cons

Resource definitely needs more funding and more outreach. Fundraisers and marketing would all be very helpful so that this wonderful organization can spread and help even more people.

    Advice to Management

Add training opportunities for the EHR system, Procentive.

Right now is a great time to join RESOURCE if you are interested in learning a lot about the nonprofit world. There are a lot of transitions happening, so keep your ear to the ground and try to get as much experience as possible.

    Cons

Not a lot of partnerships with other community organizations.

I have been working at Resource - Minnesota full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoyed the relaxed pace and flexibility of working for RESOURCE and knowing that at the end of the day you were doing something worthwhile. The company is very decentralized which is great for feeling the freedom to do your work in the way that it seems best. The best thing about RESOURCE is feeling like you're making a difference for your participants.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement and growth. Decentralization means a lot less regulation from HR, but it also leaves little room for training & moving forward.

    Advice to Management

    Somewhat stagnant to innovation.
