I worked at Resource Real Estate as an intern

    Pros

Weekly speaker series that opens you to all sides of the company. The team you work with is helpful and willing to assist. The people in charge of the internship program are always making sure the interns are gaining a valuable experience.

    Cons

Work days are a bit uneven, either you're not working on much or you're busy throughout the day.

    Advice to Management

Rotating people through different sections of the business could allow one to learn more hands-on skills.

I worked at Resource Real Estate as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large, well-known company, youthful vibe (at least among analysts and lower-end positions), decent pay

    Cons

Felt like Resource's concern for its interns was a total act sometimes. Work was usually monotonous and repetitive. Did not do much work that involved independent thinking.

    Advice to Management

Engage with interns beyond the weekly intern presentation, and give them more freedom to work independently on projects

    Pros

Bosses were really open and willing to help you learn. Great exposure to the real estate investment world.

    Cons

It seems like there isn't much room for upward mobility. Still not really any cons.

    Advice to Management

Well run company. Very knowledgable about the market and excited in pushing the limits.

    Pros

They talk a good talk. They don't walk this walk...

    Cons

Horrific culture. When they say they are "family oriented", they don't mean your family - they mean the owners and their cronies. Rampant cronyism, nepotism, sexism and pretty much everything else you would stereotype a Philadelphia / New York based company against - they are the poster child. When they pitch you with "No one ever leaves Resource"... don't buy the BS. All of the good people have left, and those that didn't want to left with a "Separation Agreement" barring them from speaking out. Run, run, run away.

    Advice to Management

Take your ill gotten gains and never manage people again. Your stock price (REXI) should shame you into doing the same.
