    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Positive atmosphere
    Competitive pay
Opportunity for training and clinical/team feedback
    Supportive Management

    Cons

    Stressful/Demanding work environment
Hard to feel part of a team
Would be very difficult to start w/out considerable prior experience in the field

    Advice to Management

Better training and supervision, don't hire lower level staff through open interview format- low buy-in on the part of employees is the main fault in the system.

    Pros

Services provided are crucial to N.O. and Metairie, LA. Would consider P-T position if mang improved. (LCSW-CFAS, DULUTH trained D.V.)

    Cons

Upper Management Staff unstable and I experienced communication problems. One of the Management.Staffs conduct was difficult. I quit! Staff turnover a major issue.

    Advice to Management

Continue working in Metro. N.O. Your work is critical. Management staff would benefit from improved communication skills and self-esteem. Critical need for substance abuse treatment.

I worked at Resources For Human Development full-time

    Pros

If you contribute to living out the core values, you have an amazing experience. I worked on a mobile psychiatric rehabilitation team and I had the opportunity to work directly with participants on a daily basis. I learned a lot, went to a lot of trainings, and felt I had the opportunity for my voice to be heard. The schedule was also flexible, so I was able to go back to school with ease. My experience on this team has prepared me for the mental health field in any setting because of how unique and diverse the case work was.

    Cons

Because of regulations changing pretty consistently, a lot of paperwork built up on us and I feel like that made it difficult to stay afloat sometimes. Also the amount of billable units we had to acquire were sometimes unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Continue being assertive, advocates for the participants, and valuing the staff.

    Pros

    Great Advancement Opportunity
Friendly Environment and great communication amongst the teams

    Cons

I can't really identify any cons that would reflect how awesome the environment is

    Advice to Management

Your encouragement as leaders are felt as the values are implemented

    Pros

Mission-driven organization passionate about serving others; flexible and open environment; kind coworkers; good PTO benefits; embraces creativity

    Cons

Unable to attract and retain the best and brightest talent because we are not competitive, salary-wise and benefits-wise. A company match toward 403b would go a long way. We also tend to hold onto people/systems longer than needed.

    Advice to Management

Invest in people; do the research to determine where we are in the market - and make adjustments so that we can be closer to where we want to be. Match to 403b to encourage retirement. With our salaries, it is very hard to save significantly.

    Pros

There is a very open environment and community. All the staff were willing to help me learn, to educate me and to advise me. It was a perfect internship because I was given a lot of responsibility and I grew in my post.

    Cons

Since it was just a summer internship, there were not any cons. The only con I heard talked about was the fact that most people do not make a lot of money in nonprofits, but that is not unique to RHD.

I have been working at Resources For Human Development full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love working for Resources for Human Development Inc. because they are an agency that believes in allowing the workers to have a voice in decision making. In addition to, the great benefits & salary!

    Cons

The downside of working for RHD is the company doesn't do raises and the salary you start with won't ever go up.
