    Pros

sales and marketing is very strong. one of the very few companies in the bay area to be recession-proof. good overall potential.

    Cons

the organizational structure in development part of the company seems bureaucratic given the size of the company. Responsys is still a startup yet there are managers who only manage one employee and majority of the managers have 2-3 direct reports.

    work from home not allowed.

    Advice to Management

hire management consultants to look at the way organization is structured.

    Pros

Responsys is always hiring, so if you need a job, you may find one here. They have been able to beat the recession with tremendous growth during a downturn. Responsys is especially interested in hiring young, recent college grads, who are willing to learn in exchange for lower wages.

    Cons

Responsys has taken advantage of the recession by under-appreciating its employees. Despite the recession, turnover is high because so many people want to leave. 60 hour work weeks are typical. Some of my coworkers left for contractor positions they were so dissatisfied with the environment, which is extremely negative.

    Advice to Management

Management (at the vice president level) should take responsibility for failures -- and not blame middle managers or employees. Constant negative feedback is what has inspired many great employees to seek work elsewhere, even in the midst of a tough economy.

    Pros

    Fast growing, successful company.
    Some interesting technology.
    Some good people.
    Hiring like crazy.
Recent efforts to hire talented people.
    Reasonable work-life balance.
Possible to negotiate good starting salary.

    Cons

Poor engineering management. Managers too often behave as though all programmers are plug-compatible automatons.
Rigid, hierarchical management structure that stifles collaboration.
Poor engineering standards - perfunctory design reviews, no code coverage standards, too few
automated tests, no automated UI testing.
    Low programmer morale.
    Few career advancement opportunities.
Little or no recognition for good work. Minimal or no raises, bonuses or stock option grants.

    Advice to Management

Implement 360-degree reviews, remove managers who fare poorly on reviews
    Flatten the engineering management structure
    Improve development methodology
Provide positive feedback and regular, merit-based reviews

    Pros

The free food and drinks are the best. The free parking is a plus as well. As far as the culture I would say there is work that needs to be done.

    Cons

Management is ok but they can be a little micromanaging in their overall style. Also the benefits are not that great

    Pros

Location. Great offices that are fairly new.

    Cons

Underhanded management team. Going to HR with any complaints is a complete joke. Very underhanded and sneaky.

    Advice to Management

Please stop encouraging employees to go to glassdoor and post good reviews. Spend your time training managers first.

    Pros

    Good people
Some departments are better than others.
Teamwork is not necessarily top priority

    Cons

Thanks for the small raise. It was like getting the 10 cent an hour raise. I am now earning less due to inflation. I see staff here work hard and generally there is no opportunity to grow. Good to get experience then leave.

    Advice to Management

    Grow your staff.

    Pros

Really nice coworkers that make it hard to leave behind.

    Cons

VERY over worked employees. High level of dissatisfaction amongst employees. No growth opportunities. Company takes revenue and stock holders over employee happiness. High turn over in employees.

    Pros

CEO has great intentions and true open door policy. Some areas of the company still have a flexible start-up feeling, and show appreciation for good work ethic.

    Cons

Middle management has high turnover and is not supportive of the employees on their teams. No middle ground between micromanagement and absent managers. It seems to be only one or the other.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the morale of the people working directly with clients. Employee attitudes are a direct reflection of Responsys.

I have been working at Responsys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are friendly/helpful. Nice location. Job itself isn't too bad.

    Cons

Management has lied about giving raises over and over again, leading to a mass exodus. They then failed to hire new people.

Oracle processes add frustration and take away time no one has.
