I worked at Restoration Hardware part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Streamlined company, up to date technology readily available to use (iPads and Bluetooth head sets) , flexible dress code (room for expression and individuality is highly valued)

    Cons

Long hours standing on concrete floors, lots of customer service issues but most are easily and quickly fixed

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality of products more, and stand behind what you preach as a company.

I worked at Restoration Hardware full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None that I can think of. Some of the people that work there are gentle souls that I hope will get a better job soon.

    Cons

The company is simply pathetic: 2 "values meetings" are ran every day to discuss people's "real heroes" (in most cases someone that will get you a swatch to show a client...), nothing like a weekend, the ridiculous way of them calling themselves "the biggest design company in the world". They do not realise how unhappy their employees are and wasting a huge amount of money in a 2 weeks training that feels like that brainwashing scene from clockwork orange. Everyone in there is looking for an other job, every single one. The interviews (5) were completely stupid getting to the point of having to read out loud the "company's values" (the 4 most banal words ever) and talk about them. Ridiculous. What they are looking for are silent servants that will be too tired from a job that never gives them 2 days in a row to rest to look for another job. This company is destined to fail, surely as a design company. They should just get over the fact that all they do is selling (badly made and overpriced) furniture.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees' advices and feedbacks. Understand that making someone that works for you miserable, will only make that person work worse. Stop calling yourselves a design company as clearly you have no idea what you're talking about

I have been working at Restoration Hardware

    Pros

I honestly cant think of any except the friendly colleaugues. The discount is not even that great considering how overpriced they are.

    Cons

Insane ever changing work schedule including every Saturday and Sunday, no one actually values your time, efforts or contributions. You can sell 250k a month of their cheap China made crap furniture and not make enough money to even support yourself on. The grey card is a total scam. They increased their prices to to then discount them. I think these people are robots, do they actually believe they are good people to lie to clients like this? Upper Management lacks compassion, empathy, and a beating heart. They are all puppets programed with catch phrases like "assume positive intentions" meanwhile they assume youll put up with absolute torture. Its a fun house of smoke and mirrors filled with clowns who lack sophistication and taste. Theres no room for real growth in the company unless youre willing to sign your life away. Stay away from this dump if you value yourself and your happiness.

    Advice to Management

Horrible! Practice what you preech. Constant scrutinizing gets real old. If you want to run a succesfull gallery try holding on to your talented employees. Pretty simple. Sales will be up if you still have sales associates. Get it?

    I worked at Restoration Hardware

    Pros

A cohesiveness to the brand and a camaraderie between associates.

    Cons

Management is disorganized and doesn't leave much time for associates to learn, grow, or provide the level of customer service they demand, which undermines the company values

    Advice to Management

Review the company values and try to adhere.

I worked at Restoration Hardware full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I worked with good people, I liked the innovation with the big galleries, and that setting, new modern product coming, the job was not especially hard.

    Cons

The management was horrific, people complained about everything. (customers and employees) The head office/company does not care or invest in anyone. They only value you now if you are a designer. Gary Friedman is disgusting.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees.

I have been working at Restoration Hardware part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Potential to be an awesome design company and firm that sets the trend for other home interior stores to follow.

    Cons

More innovation and forward thinking. Push more to break barriers and make gallery region specific to fit the needs of its clientele.

    Advice to Management

Work life balance. Value the team you have realized their potential. It's not good to loose good people. At some point you must look integrally to see what you as a management team is doing to contribute to high turn over.
