I worked at Retalix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Front-line people care about their customers but feel compromised by the limitations of the Supply Chain solutions.

    Cons

Old-school management runs the place on a quarter-to-quarter basis. Will "give away the store" at the end of every quarter in an effort to make their number. These actions were very demoralizing (and costly) to commissioned sales reps. Solutions are the result of multiple acquisitions over the years but none are integrated or well supported. Little to no modernization efforts/investments. Most uncomfortable situation in a 15+ year career in sales -- never felt confident in what I was told our products could do.

    Advice to Management

Figure out if you want to be in this business or not. Staying in it will require some significant investments in the products. Engage the front-line sales/ops team if you want the skinny on management and the products - your leadership is not being honest with you.

I worked at Retalix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good opportunity to learn the distribution industry from manufacturing through to end customer sale and delivery given their products offerings which were made possible in large part via acquisition of other software companies.

    Cons

    - US headquarters are in Dallas, but corporate headquarters are in Israel. US management was from Israel for the most part who did not completely and thoroughly understand the US/North America market.
    - Software offerings were not fully integrated across the entire product line due to varying operating platforms of the acquired software companies.
    - Customer software installations were oriented more toward adapting customer processes to the software than identifying how the software could be used to support current or improved business processes.

    Advice to Management

The management culture of "it's ok to offend, but it's not ok to be offended" is not appreciated or understood in the US market.

I have been working at Retalix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The products are great and are leading the industry.

    Cons

Complete lack of process, ineffective software management, communication is completely ineffective, and management leads by force.

    Advice to Management

I know the company is wanting to enter a period of change and I hope that management really follows through with the things that matter. Management needs to listen to employees and empower them. And, make those employees in the US feel like they are equal to those in Israel; often times US employees feel like second class citizens.

    Pros

They have a very diverse work group and some really smart people. It's a great place to learn more, as long as you understand it's just a stop on a longer trip.

    Cons

This company has historically never given salary increases, and is known for paying substantially under market for all positions. They promote a culture of trying to make you feel like you should be happy to have a job. Because of this, good employees always leave, and they are left with people who are not top achievers, and are in fact, "happy to have their jobs."

    Advice to Management

Retalix is under new management from ex Amdocs management. My hope would be that they can develop a place and culture where they would want their own family to work. Unfortunately, this was not the reputation of Amdocs, so highly unlikely.

    Pros

    Good People
    Decent work life balance
    Good customers

    Cons

    Very little planning
Buggy software and no emphasis on fixing the root causes. Just do the quick fix.
Employees are treated as if they don't have a choice but to work there.

    Advice to Management

Get a handle on the bad morale issue and focus on treating the employees like you value them in the future. Promoting people who are good at doing their job doesn't mean they are leaders.

I have been working at Retalix full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Currently there is none (only if you want to do nothing), stay away from even thinking of making some career here - current status is a TOTAL MESS

    Cons

Architects are absent (there are none!!!)
There is no development, we're fixing bugs by producing more throwaway code, which introduce more bugs
Workforce is leaking, there are more farewells each week, than average number of meaningful lines of code we produce

    Advice to Management

    Start from scratch
