Toxic, Unprofessional Company

Pros

Honestly the only pros here are that the pay can be good depending on your role and the product/company itself has a cool brand image. But in the end not worth it at all.

Cons

-The managers enjoy using their "power" in an upper level position to belittle their employees by assuming they understand their assignments/ projects right away with little to no training. -It is common for managers to make their employees cry with no repercussions, probably resulting from a trickle down environment from the founders who are not very approachable and don't even understand their own company's processes. -They hire all their friends, resulting in a cliquey environment -When you make a mistake (even when you are new), it will not be met with patience, but rather with an unprofessional tone as if you're getting yelled at by a parent, and if you try to seek help because of this toxic situation, the other higher up team members will support them and stand by them. -If you are not liked, they will not make eye contact with you or converse with you. -They tell you how to complete a project one way, and then another person will tell you that process is wrong, resulting in the responsibility falling on you and you having to redo your work. -They also don't fully train and inform you of certain do/ don't processes, so if you make a mistake it's on you not them for not properly training you. -They will throw work at you with minimal help and expect you to handle it. If you can't, then it leads to resentment from the team since they expect you to be up and running with no time for an adjustment period. -They make fat-phobic comments about their models, and constantly try to have a mean girl fashion attitude, which is honestly just not considered cool in the fashion industry anymore. -They also don't really believe in a hybrid work environment, which makes working in office everyday at a toxic company very exhausting, and no one really takes a lunch break.

Pros

Industry experience, in a fast paced environment. That’s pretty much what you can walk away with.

Cons

-Management lacks experience. -My manager was constantly on their phone/social media while they delegated all of the work. (Pretty ingenious because if you do very little work, you can blame your subordinates easily) -My manager constantly talked about how fellow coworkers are amateurs and lazy. When they made mistakes, we all suffered -Throughout the company you will often hear the phrase “Well I’m not doing that. That’s not my job. Which leads to the dedicated workers staying late and picking up all of the slack because they don’t want things to go by the wayside -You will come in early and stay late. The owners get mad if they see people leaving right at 6 -Professional growth is based on friendship with management. There is a huge “inner circle” culture -You will be berated for not knowing things. Even if you are relatively new to the industry -Constant gossip culture. Managers will whisper about you while you’re sitting right there. -No legitimate HR structure to protect employees from this toxicity. -Owners have very little oversight because they take several long vacations. Then they get mad when you didn’t involve them in a decision. -The owners have no trust for their employees. There are cameras throughout the office in workspaces and work from home is frowned upon because they assume nobody works. -COVID was absolutely mishandled during the worst of it. When asking for better office mask guidelines, we were often given the answer “it’s not that bad. We are all young, if you get it you won’t die” -Beware, you’re all part of the family, until you’re not

Pros

Working with fun brands Coworkers become like family Environment is laid back Fast paced industry experience Nespresso machine

Cons

-no HR corporate structure -Employees are always gossiping/complaining about work environment, makes you uncomfortable when coworkers are unhappy -Stagnant job - no work from home -no lunch culture, if you step out for lunch you feel guilty for not eating at your desk like everyone else - keeps employees around only because they have been around “forever” Beware of companies who want everyone to become like “family” at the end of the day business is business.
