I worked at Reval full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Mostly positive vibe and professional environment. 2. Management was interested in developing young talent 3. Mostly good people to work with

    Cons

There was a disconnect between senior management and lower tiered managers. Senior managers were well-intentioned to develop young talent, but often, a filter existed between senior managers and the young talent that left the effectiveness of the decisions to junior managers (who a mostly well-intentioned as well).

    Pros

Growth opportunities are ample and so is learning. Friendly staff and decent benefits. Senior management is very accessible and willing to guide.

    Cons

Company growth is not very god thus limiting how much one can grow from a monetary aspect. Global locations make it a very challenging work place and frustrating at times due to communication issues

    Pros

Very considerate with allowing their employees to work from home, the vacation time given to their employees is very generous. Ping-Pong, Billiards, and Paint Ball.

    Cons

No cross training, very limited mobility, Company is always looking outside for senior management roles instead of looking to promote from within.

"Read every review carefully - some are real, some are clearly written by HR"

I have been working at Reval full-time

    Pros

It's convenient to subways and train lines, and there's a ping pong table if you actually get any free time to get up from your desk for anything other than using the bathroom. There's also pizza served weekly.

    Cons

Are all of these reviews here for Reval? Either HR people are writing fake reviews to boost the score or they have rose colored glasses permanently affixed to their eyes. Micromanagement runs rampant in this company's culture, to the point it is crippling the company. Senior management doesn't trust their staff to do anything, and the email correspondence will show that to you quickly. Company culture is lacking. It is a "them vs. us" mentality - few teams actually work together. When something goes wrong, expect the finger pointing to begin. Low employee morale explains why so many openings exist in the company right now....they are running off the few qualified people there. The cream of the crop are being picked off by competitors and other industry companies, while those left are demoralized. I consider myself lucky to be giving notice shortly but feel bad for those being left holding the bag. They also give lowball offers to new workers. The only time that management steps up with raises are when their select few people threaten to leave for a competitor. That would be useful if the ones they did this for were always the most competent, but sometimes it's just for their "pets."

    I worked at Reval

    Pros

    1. A good product based company that offers immense learning opportunity in the Derivative Pricing and Hedge accounting space 2. Good work life balance - A very friendly work place. Good office infrastructure and facilities (Gym, TT, Food, regular team outings etc.).

    Cons

    1. Not enough visibility - Few people have an unfair advantage over the rest only due to their proximity to the senior management in NY 2. People tend to misuse flexibility

    "Not suitable for whiny crybabies"

I worked at Reval full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The following pros are only relevant if you are NOT a pathetic, whiny crybaby People listen to ideas. You have to be responsible for them, and have to push them to fruition. If that is done, even top management in NY listens to your ideas. However, if you are a whiny crybaby and dgaf about selling your ideas upward, then nothing will happen, so cry me a river. The compensation isn't the best in the planet, but its better than many of the offshore/outsourcing Silos that litter the nation. The only thing close to "politics" is establishing your personal brand. To the whiny crbybabies, if you consider this to be "political", the hard slap of reality awaits you at every turn of your life, in every other company, in every corner of the globe, and you will be sad forever.

    Cons

There are some genuine concerns about gossipping and too much attention being paid by management to idiotic "extra co-curricular" bs. The most senior management, perhaps due to good reason, doesnt' seem inclined to invest resources in proper processes, especially technological processes. They also seem to believe in "magic wands" and unrealistic schedules. The management in India needs to present their side of the story to NY better. They need to stand up for their employees. Sometimes, one gets the feeling that management in India can feed those lower in the hierarchy to the lions. This is probably untrue, but the perception is real.

I have been working at Reval full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some good people, but the senior management are too often rejects from others software companies.

    Cons

Biggest problem is financial stability. Reval has lost tens of millions of dollars in the last few years and because of the failed IPO is desperately seeking to sell the company. As a result management are desperately trying to screw money out of clients, while being very cheap with spending.
