    I worked at Rex Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Monday through Friday work schedule.

    Cons

    A terrible place to work for. Terrible pay. You are promised a bonus or raise once a year but only office personnel receive one. People put in power than have no idea what they are doing. Firing individuals because of dislike. They are very dishonest and treat hard working employees in an unworthy fashion.

    Advice to Management

    Learn how to manage a business.

    Quick advancements to employees within the company.

    Cons

    Like other oil and gas companies, adjustment have to be made to fit economic times.

    Pros

    Good pay, benefits, lots of perks and close to home. Also has professional staff who care about their job and work hard to complete tasks.

    Cons

    Poor work hours, and sometimes not everyone gets along. Most of the time it is outside work all year around

    Pros

    Field offices are relaxed and less stressful than the headquarters

    Cons

    Executive Management spends too much time worrying about pleasing Wall Street. Need to be more focused on E & P

    Need to focus more on E & P as opposed to Wall Street expectations.

    Chance to work on complex tertiary oil recovery program.

    Cons

    Difficulty in convincing management of reservoir heterogeneity in tertiary oil recovery program.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize stratigraphic heterogeneity.and complexity in depositional systems.

    Pros

    There were some very good, talented people who worked there. They were either beat down or run off however.

    Cons

    Expectation that you live to work. Plan on virtually no time off and no additional compensation. CEO and COO both arrogant dunderheads who need both hands and a mirror if you get my drift. CEO hothead with revolving door mentality about employees. Pay and benefits sub-standard for the industry. HR VP a disaster.

    Advice to Management

    Shareholders need to clean house on the board and upper management. Lance still major shareholder and makes decisions as though company still privately held. Treat employees like the asserts they are not a disposable commodity. You increases your cost of doing business with your turnover of people.

    Pros

    The people for the most part are quiet nice

    Cons

    Very long hours, working Saturday was normal, could never make weekend plans or go out of town, was lied to in interview process and told regular business hours. Working on the fourth of July, missing labor day to work. All normal with no compensation for doing so. This culture created by CEO who routinely came in on Saturday. Some in upper management are complete monsters trying to get others canned so they can be promoted. A culture of fear and intimidation.

    Advice to Management

    Advice to the shareholders is to replace the board and existing management who are running the company into the ground.

    Pros

    Good earning potential in the industry. Some of the guys there were pretty good guys. Good location to work at. I liked the Cranberry location.

    Cons

    Not the best people to work with. Didn't like the culture. A lot of people there come off as gun nuts, and very conservative. Little to no diversity within the company

    I worked at Rex Energy as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Company is growing fast and is very excited about it. CEO is very friendly and since the company is small I was able to interact with upper management. Relaxed environment especially at the Cranberry township office. Great people.

    Cons

    Not great pay for an internship. Program needs working on like gaining a mentor system.

    Advice to Management

    I think they are taking risk and making good decisions. No advice I can think of.
