    Pros

Great compensation package and benefits, flexibility of schedule, fast-paced

    Cons

Company uses a lot of buzzwords like "empowerment", "making informed decisions about how you manage your assignment" but they don't really mean it. You'll manage your assignment exactly how they tell you you'll manage your assignment.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to start your career with, 401k program with company match.

Resources are plentiful with co-workers wanting to help for the most part, strong brand portfolio also. For rural area salary is sufficient.

    Cons

Organization has become top heavy with massive turnover, the field is not a lucrative place to be anymore due to the following item(s)-

    - workload exploitation
    - endless launches
    - bringing on more categories yet still not salary adjustment.
    - upward movement has become taboo, with field TM's leaving due to realization of what their job really entails.

Bottom line: as of the past 2-3 years the job has become
More stressful yet the basic concept of pay for performance has left the room. Do you blame territory managers for being unhappy?

    Advice to Management

    More positions for upward movement...

I have been working at Reynolds American (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not exactly sure if there are any; meetings I guess. The National sales meeting was fun. It’s in Las Vegas

    Cons

District Managers picking on their territory managers, retailers during ramadan, the company buying their market share thru consumer engagement coupons

    Advice to Management

Middle Regional Management: Stop the lying, undermining , and back stabbing that goes on daily. District Mangers care only about themselves , and care little about the people they lead. Instead they are constantly looking to apply more pressure on their team.

On the other hand, if you can’t handle your territory or do your job well, you will be given a promotion!! The less you do the more they will reward you, especially if you are from a southern tobacco state. Better yet , management will do cartwheels , If you have an internet mba!

You didn’t go to college to sell tobacco...

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Cell phone, internet, training conferences, retirement plan,GMC SUV

The company is always on the frontier of unique type benefit services, a market leader for this in regards to employees.

    Cons

This company at its current state, is not for everyone. The field is to the point of exhaustion and being under valued and extremely underpaid, despite the roo rahh accolades.

Reynolds needs to realize... the times have changed, the new generation is not going to just sit around for years to find out all of a sudden at the blink of an eye they have to move (for a minor pay bump).

The org structure is rigid... with limited promotion opportunities and even more limited pay.

I honestly would stay away from this company now, I am looking for a new job.

    Advice to Management

Think about cost of living... example: Pacific Northwest

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You can work with great people, over the yeArs I have worked with some smart folks which have now left unfortunately within the past 2 years.

The health insurance is nice, a car allowance is allowed for a flat monthly fee.

    Cons

The company has dramatically changed for field employees over the past 2 or so years and is getting worse.

The field gets slammed with irrational and ridiculous expectations yet compensation doesn't seem to match the added work. Also, stay far away if you have a life or want to see results from your hard work.

This job is pointless.... younger on m-boarded employees are amazed at how complicated selling cigs has been made out to be..actually kinda funny.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Standard large company pros like 401k,car setup, internet and phone, health benefits (above average I would say)

The workshops are educational and run smoothly. Home office with latest remodel is above par also.

    Cons

RAI was riding high a few years back with a great culture and more of a consultive type approach with c store sales has now turned into a typical snack company with endless launches and contractual elements. Retailers have lost a lot of respect in my experiences over the last 2 years.

The rating process is something I will never understand... you are subjected to only your boss going into a room filled with other managers and they decide who the best candidate is off of things like spreadsheets, working with other people etc. instead of sales numbers? And what if you boss doesn't like you? It's very odd.

Pay has already been talked enough on here, not going to beat a dead horse.

I will be retiring in less than a year... feel bad for people who are "stuck".

    Advice to Management

None,For some reason, the company has drastically changed... its to the point of it having to be planned.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

My region used to posses great managers, but most of them now have either retired or left, or headed to the Beach to get away from the ludicrous stress levels.

The pay is ok for a very rural scenario. Employees can opt into a 401k plan and the company will match it up to a certain amount.

The car program is fantastic for field employees with a 150 a month flat fee.

    Cons

The field has had enough of being taken advantage of. The new company direction has really upset a lot of the field.... with being overwork and very very underpaid and stagnant over the past few years.

If you break the CEO's salary down with total benefits, 1 person makes as much as the entire sales field across the United States.

People are tired of lousy launches, minimal movement tracks, micromanaging like a candy company, and less than par new hires.

    Advice to Management

Please change the workload or pay more. Also, stop shoving crap down on field and wanting it done yesterday.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I see the same "pros" looking through these reviews and they are all pretty much the same at this point (car,401k,medical) because that's all this company has left... problem is... that's the status quo for Fortune 500 companies now..

    Cons

When you look beyond/under the "certified" great place to work and internal pointless surveys saying how great everything is... you will see a completely different company.

You will find FIeld employees are exhausted and as some reviews mentioned even exploited... to the point of health issues in some cases.

You will find Our customers now view us like PM... and micromanagement has come with new software reports and time stamps.

You will find a crazy turnover problem... with the younger generation packing up and leaving.

You will find an embarrassing salary.

You will find a bias "rating" system

    Advice to Management

It's hard to find the positives anymore guys.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits and Car are nice along with training programs. I was a TM for a few years and some of the people I worked with were nice and always helpful

    Cons

You work so hard and finally get promoted to account manager.. some TM's wait YEARS for this...very discouraging. Once you get the promotion, you feel empty and living in a random part of the United States with a minor at best pay increase. Sure enough... you have to wait for the next promotion... living isolated and waiting to change your life (again).

    Advice to Management

Expand the TM role into a career spot and blend it with AM with commissions etc. and the field base salary levels have to move up, it's almost embarrassing.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - car for personal use and work, saves a lot of money for most folks
    - the insurance is good, lots of helplines to assist health needs, very progressive in a good way
    - you do get a annual bonus which is great
    - tuition reimbursement and great 401k package
    - the people are great(most of the time) in terms of FIELD trade marketing

    Cons

Here is the issue, and it's no secret (as you can see from
Recent reviews) the workload out of control, especially for TM's which are now exploited.

The company has reached the point of the notorious "pay not equaling workload." You can load the field up with tasks.... but you HAVE to raise pay... it's not hard to understand.

If you are young.. this company is at best a <5 year type setup.. while seasoned folks like myself are waiting on a buyout.

    Advice to Management

For god sake..be realistic with field expectations...morale is the lowest I've seen in over 10 years. WAKE UP.

****If this is a "high performing culture" you need to pay like it is*****
