I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefits, Non-micro managed position, Complete training about the brand and product initiatives. Overall easy job to manage on the daily basis

    Cons

Upward mobility is limited because of the older guys at the top of the ladder holding upper level positions. In order to get promoted you must be willing to "brown nose" a little bit and "play the game." Salary could also be a bit higher in comparison to other similar positions in the industry

    Advice to Management

Compensate entry level positions fairly to limit turnover. Make advancement to upper level positions attainable within the first two-three years, otherwise the job is a burnout

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company Car, free gas, good vacation.

    Cons

With this acquisition, we are doing twice the work for the same amount of pay.

    Advice to Management

Try using positive reinforcement once in a while. You focus on the negative then repeat yourself 100000 times. Always looking for something wrong. I recently got scolded because a sign was crooked. My Advice to management is to SETTLE DOWN, we are out here on the front line, taking a beating from this recent acquisition. The last thing we need is you yelling at us for something that is out of our hands.

I have been working at Reynolds American full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great pay, amazing benefits, biggest 401k ive ever heard of (give 3 match 6 for a total of 9). free car, insurance, and gas make the job easy, flexible, very worth it.

    Cons

Promotion process is really bad. The company politics are just brutal! There should be a much less subjective way to decide on promotions from positions. Most life time TMs have given up hope and are doing just enough not to get yelled at.

    Pros

Great benefits offered at this job, company car, reimbursement on cell phone, internet and car wash. Your given a computer and printer. Medical and dental and vision.

    Cons

over worked, it does not stop at 5 and the pay is not that good compared to what the hours you put in. Its hard to advance in this company unless you constantly want to be moving around to wherever they place you.

I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    • Good compensation and benefits package especially for Winston-Salem, NC area
    • Generous vacation allowances, even at entry level
    • Good breadth and depth of experiences in most job positions
    • Lots of interesting travel opportunities
    • Ample training support and resources
    • Big budgets and well-funded programs

    Cons

    • Old school, small-town culture with only token diversity that is highly skewed to a few departments
    • Shrinking corporate pyramid in a declining industry, impedes career progression
    • Repressive employment arbitration agreement highly favoring the company is a prerequisite for bonuses, make sure you fully understand the content and potential implications
    • Lots of out-sourcing for Human Resources functions, be sure to regularly verify and keep written documentation of all compensation, benefits and retirement related information

    Advice to Management

Great potential but invest in a more progressive and results-driven culture, truly "walk the talk"

I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company Car, good pay and benefits, no weekends, great company meetings.

    Cons

Very aggressive and competitive people. If you are over 35 years old, you will be pushed to the side and never promoted. It is based on education, and self promotion, experience and customer service are no longer rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make the company younger, education is not always as important as experience in every situation.

I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, nice vehicles, plenty of vacation time.

    Cons

Working in liquor stores, in bad neighborhoods gets old. You will earn every penny. There is a clear division between TM's and upper management. Some managers behave like high school cliques. If you report a problem with a manager to work place practices, you can be certain nothing will be done. Myself and 3 other team members reported a manager several times, with no results. Turn over is ridiculous. Work load is tremendous and difficult to keep up with if you are doing the job well.

    Advice to Management

Step off of the "high horse" please.

I worked at Reynolds American full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company offers great pay and benefits including health, dental education assistance, flex time, etc. I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful co-workers.

    Cons

The company frequently downsizes so layoffs happen every couple of years. Ongoing employees frequently have long tenures so there is little opportunity for advancement made more pronounced because of the diminishing number of positions caused by downsizing. People smoke in the office.
