    Pros

You will develop some long-lasting relationships with the people who work here. Easy job because nobody really understands what they're doing. Feels like a going to work everyday and you get to play make believe.

    Cons

No future. Product has useless features and his constantly chasing its tail. UX and design are a bunch of amateurs without any computer science background.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your ol' buddies back because you need may need false positive reinforcement.

    Pros

Their stack of technologies is pretty old school. Very easy to ramp up and get things going. If you want a place to chill for a while, it may not be a super bad choice. OK health insurance; free rhapsody music subscription; office has fantastic Seattle views.

    Cons

Low quality production code. The code base is hard to maintain. 24 by 7 on call to constant production problems. Quality management did a poor job. Leadership constantly flip flop the directions. No working ethics.

I worked at Rhapsody International full-time

    Pros

Benefits, 6 weeks PTO, lots of interesting ideas for moving the company forward, new energetic CEO.

    Cons

Fiefdoms, dispirited employees, no understanding of what the customer wants, gridlock at the board level, culture of entitlement and low work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Clear out more of the dead wood. Start by looking at those who have been at Rhapsody for 6+years. Clearly they didn't keep up with the competition.

I have been working at Rhapsody International (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice, smart people. Casual and fun atmosphere. Beautiful office space. Good benefits. If you are looking for a chill place to work with some cache, then this is the place for you.

    Cons

Streaming music is a tough business. Add to that Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Google, the new Pandora, even Tidal, and there is no way Rhapsody is going to survive. Everyone is speculating that we are now no longer thinking of being innovators, but rather are sweetening up the company on paper to make it attractive for sale. If you are looking for job security, this isn't the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Morale is low. People who weren't laid off are quitting. The CEO won't even commit to living in Seattle for a full year until he sees if we survive. Be HONEST with employees that things may change drastically at any minute. And how can we say we are leaner and meaner post mass layoffs and office shuttering when some employees are getting huge bonuses and raises?

I worked at Rhapsody International full-time

    Pros

    Nice place and great people

    Cons

The business is down. They had a large layoff to make the company look like they are profitable. The innovation is dead. Now its all about just keeping the lights on - maintenance mode. As a developer its all about bug fix .. no new features. Its all about maintenance.

Overall its a tough business to be in. There are bigger players like apple, spotify and google who make it very hard for rhapsody to make any headway. The business has been loosing customers for the last 12 months or so and has not showed any positive signs of growth.

Looks like the CEOs main intention is to sell the company for parts. Everyone is looking to leave or has already left. Which is why there are so many open positions. Its a waiting game now.

    Advice to Management

Get a handle on what the company is going to be doing.
