    I worked at Ricardo full-time

    Pros

Good life/work balance and paid time off

    Cons

This company is going down. No good projects for engineers to get experience. In order to help the company to survive, engineers have to do some low-tech none related projects, which is very bad for the career development. They want to extent the business to the new industrial area but now they are not doing well. The management team shows no respect to engineers. They just want to sign the agreement to get money from clients and don't care about how the projects are going. The external rates are extremely high but the final quality of projects is not excellent.

I have been working at Ricardo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for a company that is making the world a better place through the advancement of technology.

Constantly living on the cutting edge of technology, when it comes to progressive projects

    Consistent opportunity for advancement

    Annual salary Increases

Employee morale groups, to encourage brainstorming on how to improve the organization

Regularly rewarding employees that go above and beyond their duties, with spot bonuses $$$

Work life balance is excellent at Ricardo

    Cons

Need more workplace engagement activities (BBQ, company outings, activities on site)

    Advice to Management

Listen to the heartbeat of your workforce. They are your business!

I worked at Ricardo (More than a year)

    Pros

Some cool projects that can be fun for new grads.

    Cons

Ricardo's strategy is to grow through M&A's. The pattern is: buy a new business, extract as much profit as possible until it dries out, then dismantle it.
Ricardo will not invest to grow the existing engineering business, as it's declining. The cash is needed to acquire new businesses.
As Ricardo has limited cash on hand, they can't afford to have loss making businesses. When there is one, Ricardo aggressively cuts costs (layoffs) to contain their losses.

Bottomline: this is NOT a company that can offer job security.
You'l be employed until your project is done, then let go.
If you are right out of college, it could be a decent first job. Get some experience, then get out.

I have been working at Ricardo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some interesting projects. In some roles (mainly UK based) you can travel the world. Lots of customer interaction opportunity.

    Cons

Demoralising leadership - execs have the collective emotional intelligence of a 5yr old. The core business that built the company over its first 100 years has been squeezed for every last pence. A brand that once thrived as a thought leader is a shell of its former self. Focus on customers and employees is all talk and no walk. The results (if you can cut through acquisition window dressing) speak for themselves. The only question remains: when will the music stop?

    Advice to Management

You've lined your pockets long enough - save your egos and make a graceful exit - everyone will thank you.

I worked at Ricardo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart people in very nice buildings

    Cons

The management culture in Ricardo is hostile to their workers and their customers. Humans are of little value to Ricardo management. Rates are ridiculously high, performance is average. Most projects hugely over run costs.

    Advice to Management

Get a whole new leadership team. Build a whole new culture.

I have been working at Ricardo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros. The company is a ticking time bomb.

    Cons

Management only cares about numbers. There is no loyalty and little to no regard for good employees. In the past two years nearly 100 people have left or been let go. With fewer and fewer employees the morale in the office is at an all time low, and the leadership has cut all merit increases. There is no incentive for anyone to stay or be loyal to this company.

    Advice to Management

Shemmans' old school way of thinking needs to go!
