I have been working at Ricoh Innovations full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people with great attitudes at office. Several people with strong research backgrounds lends a slightly academic atmosphere where one can learn lots and it is definitely NOT ok to lose one's temper. Excellent work/life balance is supported in words and actions.

    Cons

Organization is has a research/incubator aspect that seems to have difficulty launching projects into production (but that is not uncommon with corporate research branches). Seems like corporate leadership may be too timid about sticking with projects.

I worked at Ricoh Innovations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most brilliant people I've ever worked with. If the company would just get out of their way, or let the US teams drive the company, really great things could happen. Sadly, there's more of a chance of hell freezing over.

    Cons

Met very few competent people from the parent company. Totally out of touch with any idea of how to run marketing or a consumer product. Shockingly really.
Horrible processes and systems, no employee appreciation, no culture to speak of, ZERO support from the corporate office. No onboarding, exit process or employee HR - good luck getting anything you need answered about benefits. Lots of talk from the top about being a good company, but it's all words. Extremely ridiculous goals and plans and then things move at a snail's pace. I really loved my team and the people and the project, but ultimate could not be successful no matter how hard I tried. Avoid this company at all costs, it's not worth your soul. This company is only successful on the backs of a few very hard working people carrying everyone else along or working outside the framework.

    Advice to Management

Support your employees and stop treating them like an asset. Maybe listen to them, you hired them for their expertise and then ignore them. Embrace valley culture in 2018 and realize there's a lot better places to work.

I worked at Ricoh Innovations (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ricoh offices in Menlo Park are really beautifully located. The environment is friendly and cozy. Each intern works closely with their supervisors. Competitive compensation.

    Cons

Depending on which supervisor and group one is working with, your experience might vary. Seek for help and talk with people around if you are stuck in one problem.

    Advice to Management

Seek for help and talk with people around if you are stuck in one problem. Keep good contact with former colleges.

    Pros

Good work-life balance, interesting research projects, respectable senior people, real business opportunities about to happen soon

    Cons

Projects mainly dependent on decisions by HQ in Japan, no stocks, small bonus, somewhat small research groups

    Advice to Management

Consider to increase the size of the research groups to maximize synergy
