I worked at Ricoh USA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Was able to manage a Fortune 300 account

    Cons

They laid off thousands of employees all across the United States, and it went down hill from there. Pay and senior management were average at best.

    Advice to Management

Ricoh was a great company until they adopted the business practices of Ikon which led to the demise of Ricoh's marketshare and poor customer service. And Ricoh should have never adopted an inside sales team that operates outside St. Louis, Missouri.

I worked at Ricoh USA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Name recognition, incredible service staff that made my sales job easy. Before Ricoh bought the company.

    Cons

Ricoh has done nothing but cut expenses since buying IKON. First the staff, then the product, then the staff again. Now they have made the decision to get out of most direct sales functions, and in the Northeast have just left the customers to fend for themselves. Wrongly feel that the product is so good that the customer will buy from them again even without any sales representation. Congratulations to all the... other manufactures and small dealers that will benefit from this cut expenses no matter what mentality.

    Advice to Management

Bail while you can. All the good jobs outside of Ricoh are already being taken by the first couple waves of layoffs.

    Pros

Ricoh does an awesome job at hiring really good quality people. Ricoh has lots of great technology to sell. They are innovative and a leader when it comes to providing technology for the new world of work. They are doing a better job at using what they sell at their local offices.

    Cons

Ricoh management cant move pass being a hardware company. They are stuck in their ways and the company does not understand how to sell in the software and services market. The internal system and processes for handling billing, services, and delivery really are not good and cause numerous customer frustrations and makes it very difficult to keep a happy customer. The local management in Wisconsin flat out lies and... misrepresents about salary expectations.

    Advice to Management

Scrap your back office systems and processes for billing, service and delivery. It is killing your customer base. Hire new management from the software and services industry that will help you transition the company. It worked for IBM and allowed them to reinvent themselves from hardware company to software and services company. Lastly, hire people who understand channels and build your business growth leveraging... channel partners.

I have been working at Ricoh USA full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefits - including tiered levels of health insurance; 401K match; Paid Vacation and PTO time

    Cons

Constant change but that matches the motto "Imagine. Change." Restructure in early 2017 with a lack of clear communication resulted in destroying moral and trust as well as job security

    Advice to Management

While sharing the direction and new sales model was clear, it was done without providing what the employees needed to know: what is my role, what are my accounts and how will I be compensated. Instead you strung employees along through several rounds of layoffs. This destroyed moral and confidence in Ricoh among sales employees. Know where your going and let all employees know this up front so employees can plan... more appropriately for transitions to other employment and even apply for the new roles within the new structure.
