I worked at Ricoh USA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Will be around for a long time

    Cons

the folks in Japan have no clue. They bought IKON because they were a well run company. For the first few years, IKON management was in charge. One by one they left, and Ricoh management took their place. Now they are following the same old path that didn't work 5 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Go back to listening to the IKON folks on how to run the company in America

I have been working at Ricoh USA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

None to report at this time.

    Cons

The CEO Martin Brodigan should fire himself for sending RICOH further into the ditch with his so-called Transformation Realignment program which basically means firing a bunch of people because he hasn't figured out how to be profitable without messing up people's lives.

    Advice to Management

Leave RICOH and do something more menaingful in your life then to support an untrustworty comapny that doesn't derserve anyone's loyality.

I worked at Ricoh USA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people work here and if you are a social person at all you will fit right in. Worked here for several years right out of college and it was a great beginning. They Set goals for you and keep you on a steady schedule to help you with your sales work ethic

    Cons

Set unrealistic goals and are going through so many restructurings you could be hired one day and fired the next. The office always gives promotions to who they like so if you are in the "in crowd" you could expect to move up faster

I have been working at Ricoh USA

    Pros

Good sales experience. Better companies to work for to get it though.

    Cons

Terrible upper management in San Diego area. Exteremly high turnover and low office morale across the board. Order processing is a nightmare. The sales you make are a nightmare as well, as the company will either mess up the billing, installation, delivery schedule, or anything that can possible be messed up will happen.

I have been working at Ricoh USA

    Pros

The company is a leader in the document managment industry and the brand name is associated with quality. Customers are already familiar with the product and are willing to hear you out. This type of position can lead to future opportunities in medical or pharmaceutical sales.

    Cons

The management is ever changing and people do not stay long due to decreased incomes, or better opportunities elsewhere. There is a steep learning curve and commissions can take months to begin due to the long sales cycle.

    Advice to Management

Newer employees need to have more support in product knowledge and senior employees should be considered before outside candidates are brought in for leadership roles.

I have been working at Ricoh USA

    Pros

Local management is still respectful of work life balance. They are also aware of the enormous challenges faced by employees. That's about it.

    Cons

Red tape to get anything done grows by the day. Order process is a nightmare. Billing is worst than ever. Losing customers over billing issues is so common that it is now a standing joke at Ricoh. New comp plan is the worst I've ever seen. If you want to make any money at all, look elsewhere. If you do VERY well, you might make $50k.

    Advice to Management

No advice is possible. Ricoh upper management has proved over the years that they are totally incompetent. It is beyond me how they are still in business.

    I worked at Ricoh USA

    Pros

The sales training is well respected in all industries, great for transition into higher level tech or healthcare Good intro to B2B sales Ability for new sales reps to see the full sales cycle

    Cons

Lack of marketing and branch recognition reduces the sales representatives to be glorified door to door salesman in order to generate leads. No incoming leads from outgoing campaigns Extremely high turnover

    Advice to Management

Push for quality calling instead of quantity and you will find that you will have more qualified leads and larger DV per sale. Educate your reps to on the advantage of researching the company prior to the initial call ie...corporate pathways, decision makers, current vendors
