I have been working at Ridemakerz (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Works well with your schedule. Company pays for you to have a Disney Annual Pass.

    Cons

If you commute 15-20 miles, it takes a lot of time out of your day

I worked at Ridemakerz part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

free Disney pass and some co-workers were fine to work with

    Cons

    management and lack of training.

    Advice to Management

Have a standard for training! Also, trying to grade everyone on their ability is not the right way to do it as it felt like a report card at school. Allow the seasonal people the ability to learn the store and possibly learn register. At my new job, I was thrown on register first day of training. There felt that you could not trust any of the employees to make the best decision with a customer before talking with a manager.

I have been working at Ridemakerz part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The co-workers that I worked with were absolutely awesome. Very much still talk to a good number of them to this day. Got a discount at Disneyland as well as some other benefits from Disney.

    Cons

Hours were not always the best and I often had to work till 2:00 AM on the weekends. During the off season, employees struggled to find enough hours to get by. Strict dress code.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving all the hours to the people who just trade them away anyway.

I worked at Ridemakerz part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a fast-paced retail environment that can be fun, especially when helping excited little kids build their dream cars. If you work at Disneyland/Disney World, you get some Cast Member benefits such as free entry to the parks! That's literally the only perk that makes this job worth having and is the main reason why many individuals don't quit. The scheduling was incredibly flexible while I was there but current employees tell me that's not nearly the case anymore, especially now that double "Call in" shifts are required.

    Cons

Management is horrendous. They hired internally based on who sucked up the most, not based on talent or ability. Very few of the managers have any experience and do not know how to run this type of store efficiently. The pay is horrible and the annual raises are often marred by BS monthly reviews in which your performance is almost never objectively considered. I was given a 5 out of 5 star (or however they measured it-I can't remember) review one month and a 2 star review the next with little to no explanation. This was quite common and was largely based on the attitude of the specific manager on the specific day that the review was given. These ratings directly play into how much your raise will be and so this was extremely frustrating. Also, crew members who lead birthday bashes are not compensated extra even though other crew members successfully refuse to lead birthday bashes or avoid them by purposefully doing so horribly during some poor kid's birthday celebration that the management doesn't want to deal with the embarrassment enough to make them lead one again. It's really easy for crew members to manipulate the system and work far less than their coworkers in every respect.

When I was hired, career opportunities and job advancements were often praised as a great aspect of this job by my boss. Unfortunately after so many mistakes in hiring internally my first year there, Ridemakerz went the opposite direction and now almost exclusively hires outside of the company for management positions.
Starting pay is minimum wage. Nothing special.

    Advice to Management

Hire some decent management. Pay fairly and review fairly.

I worked at Ridemakerz part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Wonderful management team
    Enjoyed creating friendships with co-workers
Very little need to feel competitive
Making children's faces light up in delight
Singing and dancing to draw in guests
    Opportunities to get creative
Plenty of employee respect- parties, prizes and fuuun

I have a lifetime worth of memories from working for Ridemakerz!

    Cons

Usually, employees were divided into two different "factions":
Those who complained about company policies all day... to one another
Those who strived to have fun and get along with one another (including management)

A few unprofessional management moves when dealing with employees and guests.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at who you hire in management, and make sure they are MATURE and properly EDUCATED.

Also, management needs to be better trained, on how to deal with unhappy guests. I watched way too many Partz leave the building, without ever being paid for.
