I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank for less than a year

      Pros

The paycheck is the best part.

      Cons

It was terrible. There are clear favorites that get positions they don't deserve.

I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good pay for easy part-time work. Customers can be hassles to deal with but not a hard job overall. Easy to learn only requiring basic math skills. Given 2 personal days even though you're part-time.

      Cons

You can be stuck with some not so great coworkers. A lot of moving up within is about knowing the higher ups.

      Advice to Management

Need to do a better job of making sure people who work here don't slack off, because a lot of them do.

I have been working at Ridgewood Savings Bank full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

They provide some decent insensitives as to achieve an extra day off for the following year if you volunteer 10hrs to community service. They try to show they appreciate a good deed but only if you have a great manager.

      Cons

Less promotions, the raise is horrible, almost impossible to move up in ranks, underpaid for the amount of work you do, you are required to wear four different hats but be paid your regular salary which is barely anything to live on and they are just now catching up with technology.

      Positive Outlook

I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

There are so many great things that RSB does for the community overall. They are true to their mission statement and "treat you like family". Very generous and charitable year round. The business hours are great and banking holidays are always a plus! Management is usually very fair with how things are run on a daily basis and from most of my experience very supportive if you have concerns.

      Cons

Don't count on set scheduling hours. One week as a part timer you may have 3 days another 5. If your part-time you will be treated that way as far as hours are concerned. It's hard to move up in the company, to gain a full time position you usually have to wait until the person who has that position leaves or gets promoted.

      Advice to Management

Lower management should mentor part-timers. Teller work can be redundant and mundane. This gained experience could help some one be more efficient at their next position and create a more refreshed working environment.

I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank for more than 10 years

      Pros

Annual and semi annual bonus, room for growth, supporting management team.

      Cons

Really can't think of any compared to other companies. You were treated fairly and worked in a team environment.

      Advice to Management

Continue to encourage everyone who is looking for growth.

I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Before it used to be job security, but not anymore. I would say the only good thing they have going is flex-time.

      Cons

Environment is worse than high school drama, overload of work with low pay and they do not want you to do over time to get the over load of work done. The majority of full-time positions are being filled with part-time positions.

      Advice to Management

All "back office" departments should all be checked. Management team should all go back to management class and know how to talk to their employees and what team work really means.

I have been working at Ridgewood Savings Bank full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

For someone new to the world of banking this is a great place to start

      Cons

Once you have reached a plateau promotion can be non existent

      Advice to Management

You don't always have to look on the outside for good hard working talented individuals. Sometimes home grown can be a great choice to occupy upper management roles

I worked at Ridgewood Savings Bank part-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Willingness to work with school schedule. Pay is decent.

      Cons

Subject to racial profiling, micromanagement, inconsistent standards/procedures, favoritism, management can be very condescending. The new control teller at thus location is NOT knowledgeable. Time off policies. Treatment by management is usually subject to their moods.

      Advice to Management

Revamp office culture, the way management is trained to speak to staff, re educate management and staff on procedures and standards so that their is a consistent way of operating.
