    Pros

Worked at Riesbecks for 2 years. Great people. Always treated employees well, with a good family atmosphere. Would recommend to a friend.

    Cons

Lack of ability to advance in regards to pay, unless you would want to be a manager. Overall not too many cons. Typical grocery store environment.

I worked at Riesbeck Food Markets full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I guess the only pro would be to not apply for a job with this company. They do not care about their employees and only seek to terminate those who report the bad behavior of others.

    Cons

I suffered horrible verbal abuse from my boss for over two years and no matter how many times I reported it nothing was done to her. They truly do not care about their employees and will do everything in their power to keep you from getting another job.

    Advice to Management

You really need to take a better look at who's running certain departments and get them some anger management because all they are doing is creating a very hostile work environment, especially in the bakery in Wintersville.

I worked at Riesbeck Food Markets part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is good; seem to care about the workers.

    Cons

Hourly wages are small, compared to other grocery stores; raises happen every 6 months but are very small.

    Advice to Management

Paying your employees more may lead to better retention.

I worked at Riesbeck Food Markets full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No consistency from store to store. Far from family own and run.

    Cons

    Poor training. Rules continuous changing.

    Advice to Management

Run when you get the chance.

  6. "Fantastic Company who cares about its employees!"

I worked at Riesbeck Food Markets full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Close nit relationship between stores and corporate office. Support available from leadership at corporate as well as outside vendors. Flexibility. Pay increases every 6-12 months. Premium pay for working Sundays and holidays.

    Cons

Store level work is hard work - you will do lifting and stocking. Boxes can get heavy at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Appreciate your internal applicants for available positions rather than always looking externally.

  7. "Flexible and balanced. Well-compensated. Knowledgeable. Leader in small grocery story industry."

    Pros

The people who work for Riesbecks are wonderful and genuine.
    Staff is knowledgeable and well-trained.
    Customer focus.
    Cleanliness of the workplace.
    Good attitudes throughout the company.
    Fair compensation.

    Cons

You will have to work weekends.
There have been times when someone else's seniority has stopped me from getting a day off.
The job can sometimes including lifting and standing on your feet - if you work in a store and not the corporate office, you will most likely at one time or another have to pick up some heavy boxes and stock shelves.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! Possibly work on career development of talented employees... make sure employees are aware that there is a future in the food market/supermarket industry. Develop and train future managers.

  8. "Better than other similar companies"

    Pros

    Decent pay for position
Ability to work around school schedules
    Decent hours
    Excellent after school job
    Friendly managers and supervisors

    Cons

Seems like you have to be related to the family that owns the company to have any chance of moving into a decent position in a reasonable time.

    Advice to Management

Promote more qualified people, not just family.
