    Pros

Improving the customer experience is the goal of the company, which is a good and noble objective

    Cons

If you are not in Bozeman, you will have a hard time getting 'in' with the movers and shakers and making an impact. So many people have been there for so long, that they assume everyone knows what they know. They treat Greg G like a god.

    Advice to Management

More strategic, long term plans with ways to execute. Too many fire drills and knee jerk reaction planning. Senior mgmt not willing to train others and provide constructive criticism.

    Pros

bozeman is a great city to work in.

    Cons

sometimes it feels like a certain group of people are always being promoted- they are also given opportunities that others aren't getting.

    Advice to Management

    Try giving everyone a chance.

    Pros

Location - Bozeman is such a terrific town to live in. People who work for RightNow really do have a passion for what we do and are proud of the products we offer. The company has great community giving opportunities, and the atmosphere and community on the RightNow campus is great.

    Cons

I love working and living in the Bozeman area, but I suppose some people would have a problem being so far away from an urban area. Having family far away is a challenge, because it is costly to fly in and out of Bozeman. One thing I would love to see is a daycare center available to RightNow employees.

    Advice to Management

I appreciate getting positive feedback for a job well done rather than only negative feedback when something doesn't go as planned. My manager does give me plenty of positive feedback, but I've had others who really focused on the negative rather than the positive.

    Pros

It is a great culture with hundreds of great people. There are several good learning opportunities as well as opportunity for advancement. The technology is very good and getting better all the time.

    Cons

Lower than average compensation across the board. Senior management needs to expand their search for executive talent beyond Bozeman, MT.

    Advice to Management

RNT should hire very talented and experienced marketing professionals. There is no brand recognition in the industry. There is no way RNT will be a billion dollar company unless the marketing efforts are increased significantly.

I worked at RightNow Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Positive, fun, start-up company environment. Loads of opportunities to make a difference if you reported to a good manager. Felt like family and the it still does with the original gang from the early days.

We worked really hard, accomplished more than any other company I've worked for, but we also had a great time doing it. Everyone has a great sense of humour and often pranked each other in new, innovative ways, but all in good fun. I can remember the cardboard office created by Pro Services and the various office make-overs when someone went on holiday.

Excellent atmosphere all the way around!

    Cons

Small town American company that didn't understand the UK and European markets or salaries in those regions - often used the equivalent US salary and converted to GBP or Euros, so for example, a $40,000 job became a £20,000 in the UK. Generally paid incoming people far more than someone they promoted internally to the same position. Greg sold the business to Oracle, which caused a deep dive in morale, many demotions and redundancies and the loss of much of the best talent, but that is natural with an acquisition of this kind.

    Pros

    Cons

As the company grows innovation is tougher and management gets heavier

    Advice to Management

Think about how the organization started...solving problems, quickly

    Pros

    Good Product "CX"
    Friendly Work Environment

    Cons

The "cowboy" mentality of Montana has to go if they are to grow into a true professional technology company under the Oracle umbrella

There is a lot of nepotism, which is probably par for the course when your HQ is in a small town in Montana.

Too much "inbreeding". peole have been with the company too long. As a result, they lack ideas and knowledge outside the scope of the RightNow environment. They need to hire more from the outside and recognize that staying with the same company for most of your career is not a good thing.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new people, recognize the need to manage people out of their positions when they have been there beyond 5 years. They need to gain a broader level of experience. Train senior management in how to manage people with a structured management training program.
