I have been working at Ripley Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's not to far from my home and it's easy work.

    Cons

Only management are allowed full time hours everyone is gets part time.
Crew members do the same job but are paid different wages.
You only get commission if you meet and surpass the quota for that date the year before.
The materials for housekeeping are cheap and dirty.
The break room is also the room people book for parties and other gatherings. So if there is one we have no where to go for our break.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, don't think that because you outrank them that they don't have opinions and feelings.

    Pros

I loved the people that i worked with. It was really family oriented and everyone worked well together.

    Cons

Much work, little pay. Training isn't that great and the staff isn't treated fairly.

I have been working at Ripley Entertainment part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free access to a top attraction
Aquarium cares about the animals and conservation
Meet people from all over the world

    Cons

    It's crazy busy during summer
People (guests) get angrier in the heat of summer
Pay is low for the amount of work that has to be done during the busy season.
Most of the staff are high school or college students and are immature and have no real work ethic. They would rather goof off, and have others do the work. Leads and supervisors are oblivious to what's going on, as they all just sit in the back office and goof off themselves.

    Advice to Management

Get your supervisor staff in line. They need to be more in control, and not just hangout in the back office because none of the senior management is in.

I worked at Ripley Entertainment full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

RIpley's is a very entrepreneurial company with a flat corporate structure which affords employees a much greater opportunity to directly impact the process and make contributions that can truly move the needle in what otherwise appears almost impossible in other large multinational brand companies.

    Cons

What is internally known as "the Ripley way" is, in fact, a colorful way of masking some of the shortcomings in internal processes and organizational structure.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing and retaining internal talent rather than a seemingly apathetic approach to loosing and replacing loyal dedicated employees without putting up much of a fight or even pretending to care about bleeding talent on an ongoing consistent basis.

    Pros

Hours are a definite plus, I loved it, I just wish it was all year long instead of seasonal.

    Cons

Drama with cashiers. That's really it, honestly. I wish I was appreciated a little more for my hard work.m

    Advice to Management

    None at all !

I worked at Ripley Entertainment (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the employees are good to work with.

    Cons

Be careful of senior management. They will take what you say, twist it, lie about it, and then turn around and use it against you.

I worked at Ripley Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A fun place to work with interesting things and interesting people.

    Cons

Completely over work employees who are on salary. Worked anywhere from 50-60 hours each week. Had to work for 2 1/2 years before I was officially full time and received a vacation and benefits. It is a male dominate company. The upper management is awesome with a lot of great people, but the GMs need serious work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the employees you want to keep and they will stay loyal. Don't let the GMs run out the lesser management because they are intimidated. The GMs will make up accusations to keep their jobs and eliminate their competition at their locations.
