    Pros

Steady revenue stream, although its shrinking
    Great place to coast
Decent comp, not anything to write home about

    Cons

    Coasting on yesterday's laurels
No real innovation other than cat models
    Company is not growing
Flagship product will be real in the next 2+ years - if you can wait that long, great

    Advice to Management

Wake up - the whole industry is changing. RMS is not immune to this seismic change
Learn from IBM, HP - you live in a innovate or die world
The company is worth more as parts than as a whole

I have been working at Risk Management Solutions full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Smart people, outstanding benefits, strong models (for now)

    Cons

Inept executive committee members who continue to make the same mistakes over and over while expecting the outcome to be different each time. Morale is at an all time low through out most of the offices. Stealthy layoffs occur weekly. Executives are disconnected, by choice, from the employees working their tails off to meet the aggressive and unrealistic deadlines - then pat themselves on the back when those deadlines are miraculously met. However, miss a deadline and lose your job.

Parent company is upset about losing a ton of money as a result of the cloud debacle, and rightly so; however, the CEO is responding like a spoiled child. Dismantling teams that work well, moving all but modeling and software groups to India for no other reason than because he can. This was a great company to work for just a few years ago - when the CEO was touting how he believes in a culture focusing on feeling like you're part of a big family. Now, he's abandoned that culture, is setting us up for failure on a daily basis, and is looking to cash in.
When your CEO no longer believes in, or cares for his own company, there's a problem that can't be fixed until he leaves.

    Advice to Management

To the CEO - either care about the people who have to work to make a living for their families or please get out. We're not your personal ant farm to play with - we are people who weren't as lucky as you to be given a company as a gift from dad. Pay attention to what the employees who are doing the work are saying. Getting models out fast and broken is destroying the company's reputation among our clients. Slow down and get things right...please.

    Pros

RMS has valuable IP. The company could potentially make a lot of money for its investors.

    Cons

When you talk to the senior management, trust your instincts.

Ask yourself if these seem like people who can run a functional organization. Ask yourself if it seems likely that they value their employees. There are a lot of very good people in the lower ranks, but when you consider working here remember that the senior management that sets the tone.

    Trust your instincts.

    Advice to Management

If I were the CEO, I would ask myself this: Given the wealth of qualified, intelligent people you've recruited to fill out the company, why is everything always late? Why can't the company get things done?

Does it seem likely to you that the PhDs with immense domain expertise and software experts who have succeeded elsewhere are the problem?

    Pros

The company will likely remain alive for quite a while since there are only 2 other companies in North America that does what they do.
If you play the politics game well enough, you may not need to do much work.
It's OK if you messed up your work today, because it may not matter tomorrow.

    Cons

The way upper management changes the direction of the company, and lays off good people as a result of that, breaks my heart. My senior manager was one of the smartest guys in the company. But sadly he lost the politics game and got kicked out.
The CEO is a nice guy, but unfortunately he inherited the company from his dad, and doesn't know much about the business.

    Advice to Management

    Please. stop. immediately.
Find somewhere else to spend your time. You are not good at this.

    Pros

    Niche domain
    Lots to learn
The CEO is a learned man with a great vision

    Cons

There has been a big shift in the work culture from being very employee centric to dictator like. A company known for trusting employees with great policies is slowly transforming into a corrupt and autocratic place.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to change if RMS India has to be at par with its global offices.
