"Overall a Good Company that needs to re-focus on their Core Business"

    Star Star Star Star Star

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Very Sales Focused Company. Market Leader in Heavy Equipment Auctions

    Cons

Inconsistent Sales Management at the Field Level
Work / Life Balance is not as it is portrayed during hiring interview process.
Salary for Seasoned Sales Personnel is way under market values
Bonus Program is very hard to attain. Most TMs did not bonus in 2014!

    Advice to Management

Less focus on the hot topic of the week and more focus on securing auction consignment business by utilizing the time proven deal structures that brought RBA to where it is. Way too much focus on the CRM (Salesforce) and breaking into new industries (Transportation.....) The bottom line should always be Sales (GAP) at profitable levels and the bonus program should be structured to pay TMs on each deal. RBA gets to post the profits of each sale immediately so why can't the TM be compensated once the assets are sold?

I worked at Ritchie Bros. (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice building
    Good facilities and amenities
Diverse ethnically and in most other ways
    Reasonably flexible working hours
    Good people all around
    Pretty positive workplace

    Cons

This is a place for people more concerned about their titles and salary than the quality of work environment or end result. Not necessarily a bad thing, but you don't see a whole lot of younger people working in digital.
Restrictive business policies regarding dress code and personal equipment, among others, don't reflect a cultural value system that changes with the times.
Not the best tools provided for the job
Cubes or meeting rooms are the only space to get anything done
Communication up the management ladder doesn't seem to go anywhere
