    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits such as medical, vision, and dental.
Hourly positions tend to be flexible.
    Strong culture.
    Looks good on resume.

    Cons

Hotel benefits are good if you can travel, but if you are a manager, there isn't much traveling or vacation time. Traveling for business kind of sucks too, because you are stuck working instead of relaxing.
The corporate culture is to take care of everyone, however, politics and friendships take priority over this.
The company will fire you because of political incorrectness.
The company is slimming down the workforce and it is cause the employees to be stretched thin. Personalized service goes away when they are understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to the people who have the talent of engaging with guests. The employees who are good with people should have a chance to move up in the company. If an employee is great with the guests, there should be more incentives. There is nothing more frustrating than not promoting an individual who has a talent for people.
Since the merger, everything has been watered down. The RC and other luxury brands are becoming one in the same.
Don't terminate the good peoplebecause of the bad people. They are like cockroaches who will always stink up the place and never leave.

    I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time

    Pros

pay, discounts, 401k, benefits, opportunity to grow

    Cons

    Management does NOT value employees
Managers do NOT try to work with your schedules or outside life
Management does NOT stick up for employees
    Employees are taken advantage of
The entire hotel needs new management, they only care about money and do not value the way their employees feel or care how they're treated.
Upper management has been documented saying "If you don't like the way it is the feel free to leave." "You are all replaceable."
Company engagement survey is a joke to make you feel like you have a say, Multiple departments have scored poorly and HR defends managers.
No sense of a safe place, HR does not help you, nor do they care what's being done in each department.
The turn over rate is ridiculously high.
Management and HR do not care about your well being, happiness, or health.
Managers do not give vacation time when requested its all up to the "business need".
Managers do not respect when employees draw the line.
    No set shifts
Managers do not support their teams and do not want to hire more employees for the work load.
Legitimate concerns and complaints from employees are brushed off.

    Advice to Management

Replace management with trained PROFESSIONALS, someone who understands the values of the Ritz Carlton and supports and cares for their team. The entire executive team needs to be retrained and replaced, front of house management needs to be trained on the values of Ritz Carlton and demoted or replaced. HR needs to be replaced, not one single manager there has what it takes to run a 5 star hotel and that's the main reason it is a 4 star hotel. Really wish corporate could see what is truly going on. Everyone puts on a mask when corporate is even in the area. So sad to see such a great company go down the drain because of management. I've honestly seen better managers at publix. Companies in hospitality need people who genuinely care about their employees and the guests not someone who just wants to make money.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None whatsoever. While the service industry in general sucks, the Ritz Carlton/Marriott sucks even more. Stay as far away as you can from this industry and company. You would be better off flipping burgers at McDonalds.

    Cons

Long irregular hours, low pay, nasty and demanding supervisors, back stabbing co-workers who get rewarded by management for being rats/snitches, no personal life, health care plan is terrible-it's like having no health coverage at all. Incredible turnover rate-if you last more than 6 months it's a miracle. And those are the positives of this company.

    Advice to Management

Why would anyone bother giving advice to management?-they wouldn't listen anyway. All they care about is profits and absolutely nothing else.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Hotel discounts including rooms, food and beverage, and spa.
    Medical benefits are rather good.
401k match is decent but comes a year later.

    Cons

Most political place I've ever worked. Some ladies & gentlemen get promoted/Title change with better pay and no more responsibility. While others who have been in company 5+ years with the experience basically get told to find another job if they're not happy with it.
To be "promoted" or receive a pay increase you have to apply for that position. There are no promotions or raises because of the production level or experience one has.
Work life balance for operations doesn't exist at my property.

    Advice to Management

Actually take the time to appreciate the good ladies & gentlemen you have and have been with you through thick and thin. Reward them for consistently going above and beyond.

    Cons

Incompetent management, double standards, hypocrisy, no opportunity for promotion.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let more competent leaders to get the job. Every last one of you idiots are a waste of oxygen! The hotel is nothing more than an average Marriott ripping people off, that think it is luxurious.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time

    Pros

I really dont have any to give.

    Cons

Not enough pay. Everybody is rude and phony, the staff is only nice to the guest but all my managers and coworkers were really complete jerks.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselfs. The rooms are ugly and dated and your hospitality concepts are really lame and disingenuous.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hotel rooms discount through Marriott.

    Cons

Managers just there to get a paycheck. Company gold standard and employee promise is a sad joke among employees.

    Advice to Management

Take a real look at the reasons for high turn over in your hotel. I'll give you a hint- your human resource dept. is not trusted by employees. They help managers retaliate against complaints that should be confidential.
