I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Schedule. Only because I was required to enter a response.

    Cons

Incompetent management, double standards, hypocrisy, no opportunity for promotion.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let more competent leaders to get the job. Every last one of you idiots are a waste of oxygen! The hotel is nothing more than an average Marriott ripping people off, that think it is luxurious.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time

    Pros

I really dont have any to give.

    Cons

Not enough pay. Everybody is rude and phony, the staff is only nice to the guest but all my managers and coworkers were really complete jerks.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselfs. The rooms are ugly and dated and your hospitality concepts are really lame and disingenuous.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hotel rooms discount through Marriott.

    Cons

Managers just there to get a paycheck. Company gold standard and employee promise is a sad joke among employees.

    Advice to Management

Take a real look at the reasons for high turn over in your hotel. I'll give you a hint- your human resource dept. is not trusted by employees. They help managers retaliate against complaints that should be confidential.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They offer free stays at all Ritz-Carlton's three free nights per location around the world per year.

    Cons

They start at $11.00 per hour. I have a certificate in Travel, Art Degree, Business Degree in Hospitality and Tourism. Trying to get a decent wage that pays more than McDonalds down the street is few and very far between.

    Advice to Management

Being outsourced through Marriott; the Management for this Call Center, I would recommend that your starting salary pays more than $11/hr. This is even for your full time employees. You are acting like a sweat shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Utah does not need a decrees in pay for great talent.

    Pros

Nice, friendly, staff, good overtime availability

    Cons

It's all based on adherence and "sales" on reservations. If you call in once it's impossible for you to ever catch up to their ridiculous adherence policies and unfortunately we have lost a lot of good employees because of it.
There is no room for advancement unless you've been there for more than 10years
Also, the employee discount is almost never available and most outside company discounts are usually always a better deal than your own employee discount!!!

    Advice to Management

    Back off the good employees

    Pros

Location and clientele will prepare you for many challenges. Great place to give you your first experience in luxury. Um, great coffee shop next door on 58th street (I'm trying here).

    Cons

Very shady handling of all employee issues. Too many union side deals. No support. Very inexperienced upper management. Do not go to HR for anything. Cover up central. Also, operations management is severely understaffed yet killed regardless of occupancy. Just operations. Sales, finance, executive committee are juuuuuuust fine.

    Advice to Management

Do your time and move on. They do a good job of making you feel like this is the big leagues but when you get to know the higher ups, you'd be shocked by their lack of knowledge but man, they sure do a great job of kissing you know what. Sinking ship that is slowly sinking next to other companies that get this business.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Teaches you a lot, provides uniforms, the benefits are amazing, and the brand is great.

    Cons

The leadership uses you until you have nothing left, way to much favoritism, not loyal to you at all, tells you there is room for promotions but they are full of empty promises and makes you feel replaceable.

    Advice to Management

Get better management, treat your employees better.
