I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing benefits, ability to work for a lot of brands in diverse locations. Company works you hard but it is the best in the industry.

    Cons

Lots and lots of long hours, and days. Working all major holidays, merit increase are average, especially for management employees.

    Advice to Management

Great company to work for, needs to work harder to retain talent. Some properties need much work to be up to standards.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned a great deal from being here a short amount of time. People are great and can be fun at times.

    Cons

Work/life balance was not there. Was not told a lot before being hired. I recommend you ask a lot of questions before getting hired.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key! More communication is needed in order to ensure the best work place there can be.

    Pros

    Great Benefits and competitive pay

    Cons

Management always competing for positions. It is clear how they want to shine just to obtain a better position within the company. Employees like to gossip bringing the company moral down. HR knows about this but only address it when is too late.

    Advice to Management

Always be genuine to your employees. Also, understand their individuality. Not every employee is the same and have the same needs.

    I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time

    Pros

Highest paid wage compared to other Marriot companies.Structured and organized departments.

    Cons

Maintenance problems in back of house because of buildings age.Extremely challenging to move up into another position in house rather than within the whole Marriot.Orientation sets expectations very high which is great but some departments due to mostly the managers don't enforce the values to all employees in a department.

    Advice to Management

Embrace change, enliven service values in employees and help strengthen the moral of your department by example and strong Leadership.

I worked at Ritz-Carlton (Less than a year)

    Pros

The first 6 weeks they're nice
    Good pay
    Overtime opportunity

    Cons

The Company doesn't care about you.
They will use strong pressure to have you work OT
They'll never give you a schedule you need

    Advice to Management

Be honest: you're not 100% Satisfactory to work there. You lie about where everyone's commission is
You don't care about the Reservationists shame on you

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall company training is helpful to teach you about the company's mission, etc. Mission/ credo/ values is solid. People respect and recognize Ritz-Carlton name on resume, even years later. I appreciated the employee empowerment where you can comp things for unhappy/ special guests if you feel it is right. Nice properties and can find friendly coworkers. Appreciated the 'being lined up' policy where you touch on what's going on today before heading out. Felt managers were involved/ cared and had a strong team. Pretty cool employee discount service.

    Cons

No health benefits. No scheduled time off. Schedule comes out weekly so you can't request anything in advance. Middle management can be petty (too emotionally involved and dramatic) and I also felt micromanaged. Can't clock in until you take a long shuttle bus from employee parking lot, then change into old unfitted uniforms (30-35 minutes of unpaid work related time everyday). Rarely able to interact with GMs or any high level of management.

    Advice to Management

Make it worthwhile for employees to stay. High turnover because there are more competitive offers out there for skilled workers.
