    I worked at Ritz-Carlton

    Pros

Free meals, good pay, interesting guests stay at the property

    Cons

incompetent management, irregular schedule (but that is standard in hospitality)

    Advice to Management

Use the 90 day probationary period to actually evaluate employees- if someone can't keep up with the job requirements- let them go!! Otherwise this is just an excuse to pay less.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Health Benefits Great discount hotel rates for any hotel owned by Marriott Great work Family Free Lunch

    Cons

Under paid for the amount of work you do Terrible work/Life balance; I am forced to work 10 hr days thursday-Sunday No room for growth in certain departments because leaders stick around for a very long time.

    Advice to Management

I wish they would be as concerned with the way employees feel and are treated as they are business needs.

I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Weekly pay is fantastic. Also, the heavy discounts are a great perk to have! Especially if you work in the spa

    Cons

There's definitely a food chain when it comes to how others are treated. Jobs such as management, security, and front desk are treated like gold while others (housekeeping, spa valet, and laundry) are treated like dirt.

    Advice to Management

Treat every employee the same, regardless of job title.

I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is important to me and why I rated "4" Stars overall: Wonderful coworkers, beautiful facility, working atmosphere and benefits. Department Manager was fantastic. He was truly hands on and always ready to jump in and do whatever needed to be done. I believe he recently transferred to another property. Supervisor was very good, but very busy as she was also a therapist.

    Cons

This location is a small boutique Ritz-Carlton property. There is generally an abundance of opportunity to move and grow within the company, but the size of the Charlotte location creates growth limitations. If you are looking to grow and stay put in Charlotte you may encounter a challenge here. Upper Management was aware Spa desk staff should make commissions or have more opportunity to increase earning potential, but never delivered on this. Pay is low for what is expected of this position. I no longer work there, but understand this still has not changed. If you are applying for this position the hourly pay "is it"....Concierge does not equal "Tips" as in most arenas. Guests rarely recognize the staff in this position.

    Advice to Management

Read the reviews on Glassdoor and open your minds to retail commissions for Spa desk agents. They are the people that sell retail and have the best opportunity to increase sales.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competitive pay & raises, great health benefits, promote growth and continual skill refinement & education. All real problems in the work place have an opportunity to be heard and addressed. Their employees are very important to them. There are many events for employee appreciation.

    Cons

There isn't much room for "individuality." They are very strict is appearance & attire. Sometimes their corporate protocol may not fit every specific situation and there isn't much room for negotiation or a case by case evaluation.

    Advice to Management

Good and consistent communication is very, very key. Listen to all sides of the situation and try not to mix personal life and opinions with the work place.
