I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

great company benefits paid vacation traveling was easy with room rates.

    Cons

I was with the company for 3 years.. everyday of the 3 years I was treated like a dog. even when I was pregnant. no respect what so ever for anyone. I finally left the company with a heavy heart but head held high.. if they didn't want you working there.. they found a way to get you out.. Dirty Dirty.

    Advice to Management

RESPECT the people that work for you. they may stay longer

    Advice to Management

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC has an awesome vision. The culture is well communicated and embraced by all members of the staff. People are proud to work there and revel in the magic they create for guests. There is a pervasive attitude of positivity and teamwork throughout the organization.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton

    Pros

great brand, quick competent teams in place, good training, great benefits (esp. hotel stays), great ladies and gentlemen, great company if you are in sales. all other disciplines are secondary. if you are liked you get promoted. Senior leadership is experienced, approachable, likeable and stand up leaders. Most having an amazing presence.

    Cons

very north american centric company, solutions often only work in the US, limited resources, never enough budget, shortcuts galore, shoddy product (when compared to competitors (four seasons, mandarin). if you aren't liked, you get demoted to second tier city hotels (St. louis, dearborn, cleveland or worse, intl cess pool cities that no one will ever visit you at: sharm el sheiky). Recent public reorg with marriott has realigned most of the corporate team (hr, loss prevention, ops, finance and soon sales/marketing ) positions are being reviewed and corporate culuture is at at an alltime low. All "original" RC employees are confident this is the beginining of the end for this great brand as Marriott will take it over and treat it just like one of their other brands.

    Advice to Management

Since the Marriott chairman is leading this charge...good luck to you and your jobs. Most SVPs, VPs and regionals will soon be looking for a new job. incl. Simon.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People are wonderful, travel perks are great. Company culture is great.

    Cons

No upward mobility - only lateral mobility. Senior Management seems to only care about developing/training management, and never hourly workers. Lots of development opportunities for managers, but barely any for hourly workers. Promotion from within is almost non-existent. Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Spend time to listen to what your employees want. Work with employees who are interested in growing -- don't speak about it once, then forget about it months later.

    I worked at Ritz-Carlton

    Pros

Worked in two different properties and it was great. Great company vision, met amazing people, good training program. The best thing is the empowerment event at any level of your work. Haven't worked in another company that provided the leadership and empowerment Ritz does.

    Cons

Salaries and work-life balance could be improved.

    Advice to Management

Keep being the leaders that you are
