I have been working at River Oak Center for Children full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, good trainings, opportunity to become Licensed.

    Cons

Managers can micro manage interfering with progress of work. Can work outside an eight hour schedule with not the best pay,

    Advice to Management

Don't micro manage your employees. Actually limits employees rather than excelling them.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at River Oak Center for Children full-time

    Pros

    Opportunity to gain hours quickly.

    Cons

Management appears to be in highschool. Administrators support this mentality and have issues with arrogance and ignorance with how poorly management treat there staff. Burn off runs deep with employees due to poor communication, lack of support and an overload in cases.

    Advice to Management

Stop supporting a negative work environment filled with manipulating, bullying and gossip management. Start supporting all of your employees and become a strength based company. Does it make any sense to expect your employees to be strength based yet you cannot apply this same respect to your employees ?

I worked at River Oak Center for Children full-time

    Pros

A good cause for providing behavorial, health and educational services for city's youth, great employees and supportive team environment, and oh yes, love their barbecue events and birthday celebrations!

    Cons

Like some previous reviewers pointed out, management in certain departments is a let-down, as well as a high turn-over rate. Long hours expected, atleast in my tenure at the time. Bad and deliberate treatment by a coworker, so somewhat of a hostile work environment if concerns are not addressed to supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Listen, listen, listen to the concerns of other employees, especially if they frequently have a problem with a "bad apple" in the group. Their feedback had just as merit as the purpose of the organization. Beware of manipulative employees that are given too much leverage in making decisions for how the department or other employees should function. Go with your gut feeling, no matter how highly competent said employees may be......it's HOW they treat others that matters, otherwise department may not be as positive and meets its goals. It's your decision in the end.

    Pros

You can do good work with local children and make a real difference in their lives. They have high quality people working on the front lines.

    Cons

Executive management is riddled with arrogance and they do not care about lower-level employees. They protect bully managers and reporting to HR provides no relief.

    Advice to Management

Hold accountable the bully managers and the directors who protect them. You can't sweep these things under the rug and expect abusive management behavior to remain a secret.
