I worked at River Oaks Country Club part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I learned a lot about the fine dining experience when I worked here. The staff were kind and mostly helpful. They feed the staff which is nice.

    Cons

Everything is self taught. There is no form of training other than following a person around. On my first day I worked a fifteen hour shift. very long hours for banquet staff especially.

    Advice to Management

Have a training program in place.

I worked at River Oaks Country Club part-time (More than 5 years)

    Very nice people and atmosphere.

As with any summer job the Texas heat is very hot and can be hard on your body.

I worked at River Oaks Country Club full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gives great experience, especially if your trying to build a base for a career in country clubs. You can learn a lot but only if your willing and motivated

    Cons

In banquets they either work you to death or short you on hours, it's a total mind-game. The departments don't follow he same standards. There's NO TRAINING your just thrown on the floor and you ave to pretty much find your way by asking others.

    Advice to Management

Train your banquet staff, service staff in general.

    Pros

Laid back work environment with 50% of my time spent on break.
    Free food.
    Lots of networking opportunities

    Cons

Hot! Houston summers can be very hot and the outdoors nature of the job mean no A/C.

    Advice to Management

    Good Job Guys!
