I worked at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are so many pro's to working here that I could spend all day listing them! Riverbed is nothing short of a wonderful company that puts their employees first, focuses on education and career advancement, and happy work/life balance.

    Cons

Not a single negative thing to say!

    Pros

Stable, adequate management in software/QA groups.
Beer and wine with food every Friday

    Cons

No free lunches, only some snacks.
Not clear on the future prospects - when the changing event will finally happen

    Advice to Management

Tell people more about your long-term plans in concrete terms

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There used to be tons!....Not so much anymore.
    1. Food in cafe
    2. Excellent benefits
    3. Work from home

    Cons

Morale is steeply heading down hill as people feel like they are sinking. We just had a layoff in order to 'reorg' but still it didn't make sense. Riverbed used to be a company of stability but not so much anymore. I miss the old days. I hear alot of people looking for new jobs so needless to say, if you are a Riverbed customer, the days of English speaking seasoned technical engineers will come to a halt as they are migrating support overseas.

    Advice to Management

We are very smart people and can see what is going on. Please don't sugar coat or use 1000 cliches in your company all hands meeting to speak above us. We can see the writing on the wall.

I worked at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Location - most networking companies are based in Silicon Valley, so it's a good option if you're sick of commuting and live in the city or east/north bay.

    Cons

I've worked at a number of high tech companies and never had first hand experience with tech being sexist/a boy's club - after working at Riverbed, I get it.

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone is here for the right reasons and there is virtual no games/politics. The best I've ever worked for in that regard.

    Pay is very competitive

    Cons

It is a competitive industry and we are in transition. Though I'm not kidding myself that everyone else is doing better. Transformation is here to stay, there will be a new buzzword for this in a few years.

    Advice to Management

    Continue product investments/R&D.

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Comp is on market. People hired are intelligent and hard working.

    Cons

Leadership is a mess. With the exception of a few recently hired and promoted leaders, the leadership at Riverbed is really terrible. A lot of politics and favoritism is going on. Unethical behavior in HR leadership as well as the CEO office. Most recently, HR let go of some great workers who were change agents because they didn't play their games. The individual who responds to these reviews needs to learn how to not discount and disregard the feedback of current and former employees. It's unprofessional and disrespectful. A direct reflection of how Riverbed treats us.

    Advice to Management

The board needs to do some house cleaning at the top if they want to see a return on their investment..

I have been working at Riverbed Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong Portfolio of products and solutions to offer
Much more than a WAN Optimization company!
New Leadership brings new energy and focus

    Cons

Communication is not crisp or well directed to keep the organization focused.
Strategies are changing with new leaders, so it is difficult to turn the company quickly and achieve results.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent. Don't be afraid to communicate the changes (Personnel and product direction). Upper mgmt needs to get out and meet the organization, listening tour and clean up the SF org issues that prevent sales.

    Pros

    Work-life balance is good here

    Cons

The company seems to be going in the wrong direction. A lot of great employees already left. Pay is not competitive. Employees are not given room to grow professionally.

    Advice to Management

Reward employees that truly add value to the company and remove those who are no longer productive.
