    Pros

Market Leader in its domain, Growing Company, Amazing product, amazing people to work with, Your work is highly appreciated. Since the company is small you are recognized within the company. Very flexible work hours and management is supportive of taking time off for personal life matters. Get free snacks and coffee. Teams have one outing once a year. It has good Employee Stock Purchase Plan which is very beneficial. Even when it is a small company, Riverbed gives a hard time to its competitors like CISCO, JUNIPER, BlueCoat, etc. It has a great future because of its products and people.

    Cons

Employee benefits as compared to big and well established companies

    Advice to Management

    To add employee benefits

    Pros

The products have an amazing future. The technology offered by Riverbed is very dominant in the industry, in a way rarely seen before. We enjoy kicking Cisco around; Riverbed is one of the few companies that can go toe-to-toe against Cisco and consistently win. Caliber of colleagues in the rank and file is very good. Riverbed is able to attract and hire the brightest brains around.

    Cons

Some senior execs are excellent, but others are political or not as bright. Sometimes I wonder why certain individuals are promoted while others are overlooked. The company has grown so fast that internal communication is sometimes fractured.

    Advice to Management

Do more things to bring excitement to employees in the rank and file. Sometimes senior leadership seems passive.

    Pros

Very fast paced and innovative company to work for. Very smart engineering team that come up with innovative solutions. This is a high-growth area even in the current downturn and it helps to be part of Riverbed which shoudl see its profile grow over the next couple of years.

    Cons

Small company with, at this time, only one revenue generating product. This makes revenue lumpy and makes it more susceptible to the downturn. It's buffeted by large competitors - Cisco the largest among them.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management needs to be more aggressive about acquisitions. While this will likely dilute shareholders in the near-term, this is the best option for longer term growth in revenue and market-share.

    Pros

Great place to work, great products, fine sales management. The company is tracking to excellence and should become more than just WAN optimization by leveraging their current IP into other areas.

    Cons

Public company. Some senior leadership is not as strong as would be expected or hoped for...

    Advice to Management

Existing product set is fantastic, but the company needs a new product set...

    Pros

Unbelievable technology, "can do" culture, everyone wants you to succeed. Very little in the way of success, but little room to fly under the radar (under achievers beware). Even the office admins are operating at 110%.

    Cons

Going through some growing pains as the company transitions in to the big time. Some naivete managing sales methodologies in particular markets.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on innovation and product development while implementing proven sales methodologies customized to individual markets.

    Pros

Open environment, exciting work, growing market, very little bureaucracy, everyone is respected, excellent teamwork across the board

    Cons

lack of technical training, commute to SF without any shuttle or additional travel compensation, no parking privileges, lack of many processes (could be a pro too), insider trading policy applies to everyone

    Advice to Management

eliminate the blackout period for trading for everyone, and keep it only for officers

    Pros

The engineering team has some of the brightest people on board. Across other teams, everyone is dedicated, focussed, and above all, love the work they do. A very diverse workplace, you can get all sorts of interesting (non-work) advice and suggestions.

    Cons

Some people can be a pain (to work with) at times, but are generally fairly nice, and have the best interests of their teams (and product) at heart.

    Advice to Management

Keep at it. A bit more communication to those lower down would be appreciated, but I definitely don't find much lacking.

    Pros

Good field to learn, Good working environment, I have respect for my coworkers and their abilities.
They have the resources and the know how to get things done.

    Cons

You will not be hand held. If you want to grow you have to take the initiative yourself.
You cannot be shy if you need help. You have to hunt down those with the knowledge. That said, people are friendly and willing to help.

    Advice to Management

Upper mgmt, keep working your magic
Middle mgmt, continue to empower your employees, give them room to come up with solutions.
