I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good benefits for employees. Pay is better than average for the industry and overall its a positive work environment. Management is open to listening to ideas for improvement

    Cons

Can be issues with internal politics at times, but what company doesn't have this. Also, the technology used at the Company is for guest facing. Not much investment in back of house to modernize/streamline processes. Its 2018, why is there so much paper? Also, its time to update the restaurant concepts. With so many good places to eat in Pittsburgh, the property needs to invest and get with the times to attract customers to visit.

Been hearing about a hotel for a long time, but nothing seems to be moving on this. Why announce something and then do nothing?

    Advice to Management

Invest in the support departments to go electronic and make more tools mobile ready since most employees have mobile phones.

I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They give away 2 free Kennywood tickets every summer and 2 free food vouchers. This casino finally fixed the late policy.
Every employee gets 3 free lates and that means you can come to work late 3 times and it will not count towards how many times you are late.

    Cons

The Rivers Casino is a disgusting place to work at every day. Fruit flies fly in front of the employees while they are trying to eat there lunch or dinner at employee cafeteria. Four out the five dish rooms that I have worked in are always understaffed when it is very busy. When something like dish cart for storing plates, desert plates and bowls is broken in Buffet dish room it probably will not get fix or replaced. Customers complain sometimes about the fruit flies in the Grandview Buffet and there are always fruit flies on the walls and dishes on the the counters. The ceilings are are always dirty and it is EVS cleaning crew's responsibility to clean it but the casino supervisors are oblivious or to lazy to pay attention to the problem.
     will not got fix

    Advice to Management

Hire more full time dishwashers and stop making excuses about language barriers when you ask Nepali dishwashers to train new dishwashers that only speak English how to change the oil in the deep fryers. When you are hiring new dishwashers, cooks and pastry cooks you should have enough common sense to make sure they are being trained well by other employees. This company makes 1.5 million dollars a day. This casino shouldn't never be making any excuses about training employees when you making that much money. Neil G. Bluhm is the greedy owner of the casino and his net worth is 3.6 Billion and his feckless leadership is probably contributing factor to why this casino has a least 700 employees that want a union.

I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I feel the pay is decent but unfortunately I cannot stay that is true for all departments. A buffet lunch that is $2.50 with a pretty good options. It is a great place to work, I just disagree with the "bending of the rules"

    Cons

They say that "integrity" is a core value here at Rivers Casino but this is very far from the truth by the definition of the word. You are told to do this and that, given the policies and procedures but yet when you, the employee, implement theses policies upon guest(s) who may being unruly and combative against you, where management is called; management will make you look foolish (in front of the guest(s) mind you) and let the guest get by with whatever policy the guest is not following, which will leave you confused on what is and isn't allowed which defies the definition of integrity.

I worked at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Uuuuuuhhhhhh....That's pretty difficult.
The one good thing is that everyone understands that they're all on the same sinking ship.

    Cons

    Backstabbing is rampant.
No one seems to have a clue what's going on...Ever!
    Little room for advancement.
You are treated as "the help".
Players are usually angry for one or more reasons.
HR simply doesn't care, and WILL retaliate.
The "good" people ALWAYS move on to a casino who will value them.

    Advice to Management

Please realize that the people that work for you are PEOPLE, and when they bring up an issue, wether good or bad, it does need to be addressed.

I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time

    Pros

Hard work not required to succeed.Constant job openings.

    Cons

If you belong to the "In crowd" hard work is not required. Working hard places a target on your back makes the skaters look bad. The idea of "MINIMUM and Done" should not be embraced and definitely not taught to the next group of employees.

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out of your backside and look around to see who is actually working and reward them instead of finding a way to dismiss them. If you treat your employees with respect, they will reward you by first off staying and secondly by embracing the patron instead of looking to see where the corporate knife is bound to spring,
