I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I feel the pay is decent but unfortunately I cannot stay that is true for all departments. A buffet lunch that is $2.50 with a pretty good options. It is a great place to work, I just disagree with the "bending of the rules"

    Cons

They say that "integrity" is a core value here at Rivers Casino but this is very far from the truth by the definition of the word. You are told to do this and that, given the policies and procedures but yet when you, the employee, implement theses policies upon guest(s) who may being unruly and combative against you, where management is called; management will make you look foolish (in front of the guest(s) mind you) and let the guest get by with whatever policy the guest is not following, which will leave you confused on what is and isn't allowed which defies the definition of integrity.

I worked at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Uuuuuuhhhhhh....That's pretty difficult.
The one good thing is that everyone understands that they're all on the same sinking ship.

    Cons

    Backstabbing is rampant.
No one seems to have a clue what's going on...Ever!
    Little room for advancement.
You are treated as "the help".
Players are usually angry for one or more reasons.
HR simply doesn't care, and WILL retaliate.
The "good" people ALWAYS move on to a casino who will value them.

    Advice to Management

Please realize that the people that work for you are PEOPLE, and when they bring up an issue, wether good or bad, it does need to be addressed.

I have been working at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Constantly moving, fast work environment. Not much else to say honestly. Opportunity for growth I suppose. Has a decent starting hourly wage.

    Cons

Underpaid, doesn't try to fit your schedule, random shift assigning, terrible off days/hours, did not give me the shift I applied for.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees so the current ones aren't getting screwed constantly. Keep your promises.

    Pros

Health insurance benefits are really good. Rivers has % matching 401k. I had great coworkers. Decent amount of paid days off.

    Cons

As a table games dealer, you breathe in second hand smoke from the customers you are dealing to. Occasionally, having to deal with irate customers.

I worked at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Location, Beautiful Property, Amazing Views and great summer concerts, Steakhouse is pretty cool.

    Cons

Lacking guest satisfaction, certain managers in HR are not very nice, and the wine list in the Steakhouse is a bit pricey.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of the numbers and focus on more guest satisfaction and employee motivation/incentives and cohesiveness and the numbers will come.

I worked at Rivers Casino (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay if you work at least 40 hours

    Cons

Big time favoritism going on here... plus although they seem to give you a good amount of time off it's virtually impossible to get important days off, and if you try to take a vacation for a week or two they'll approve all your time off but schedule you for a day or two in the middle of your vacation.

    Advice to Management

You need to offer your employees a higher base pay, do away with favoritism, and allow employees to take full vacations when they ask for them (if they have the time).
