I have been working at Rivian full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

    - Never a dull moment - Developing new technology with a highly efficient team - Fun work culture where everyone is contributing to the success of the program - Fast paced environment where progress can be measured daily instead of quarterly - Not bogged down by bureaucracy - Each employee has a great deal of responsibility to contribute to the team

    Cons

    - It's a start-up , so it is expected that you will be providing value to the organization. If you aren't, you won't fit in here. - Each individual has a greater degree of responsibility than a typical large organization, this can either be empowering or debilitating depending on your mindset.

    Advice to Management

Do not relax the hiring requirements because of timing implications. Mediocracy should not be accepted.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Rivian for more than a year

    Pros

The company culture is incredible. Open, interdisciplinary collaboration means that even as an intern I was able to voice concerns and have them taken seriously by experienced engineers. They treat interns nearly like full-time employees. While there is an understanding that you are learning, you are given serious responsibility and independence, and you are expected to contribute value. Knowing that your work has an...

    Cons

Things change very fast, which means that goals may change and the scope of projects can increase; it can be hard to keep up. Roles and responsibilities may not be clearly defined, which can lead to some chaos. On the whole, this is beneficial to a dynamic startup, but can be a bit difficult for an intern to get in the flow of things. Make sure to clarify questions as you have them!

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Rivian full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most people are nice. Didn't have politics before which has started recently. Good product with a future.

    Cons

Too much talks and requirement writing. Some executives want one vehicle to do everything with have no knowledge what it costs to do so. Plans change everyday. Some of the changes hurt Rivian hard. People know but they don't say for job security. Quick hire quick fire is pretty common.

    Advice to Management

You are heading to tough time. Plan on surviving.
