I have been working at Road & Rail Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Entry level. Good company to learn the railroad. Get trained to run locomotives and work on rail cars. Leadership really cares about safety.

    Cons

Demanding schedule, sometimes long shifts but they support you with a good balance of time off.

    Advice to Management

    None to add.

I worked at Road & Rail Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Weekly pay, paid holidays, vacation hours, meet other people.

    Cons

Poor management skills, everything is a secret. Hourly pay rate is not worth the work you do daily. The way they go by doing things is terrible to their associates. Nothing but LIES. You have one job title but doing 3 different others. Regional mgr slick by the mouth.

    Advice to Management

Have respect and treat your associates like humans. Pay them for the work you want done.

    Pros

There's a lot of walking and it's good exercise, there's usually a lot of overtime for a better pay check

    Cons

The attendance system is terrible, they don't value their current employees, the raises are are ridiculously small

    Advice to Management

Take care of the employees that have been there the longest and let them know they have some worth

I have been working at Road & Rail Services (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are managers who want to help teams succeed, other managers are just there for a paycheck.

    Cons

Lots of discussion about upward mobility, not a lot of development to help you do that.

    Advice to Management

Focus on developing talent, push those that don't care out the door. Dead weight is holding the company back.
