    You can make a lot of money if you hustle
    Helping people find a better job is satisfying

    Cons

    The company expects you to make over 50 "cold marketing calls" PER DAY. Unless you have the personality to take a ton of rejection over the phone and be treated like a telemarketer, this is NOT the job for you.

    Pros

    Regular paycheck, people know the name, and that's really it.

    Cons

    If you start off as a recruiter on the perm team, you must make 10 placements before you see ANY MONEY OFF OF PLACEMENTS. In other words, you make extremely low base pay in a high stress, cutthroat environment and you have to kill yourself for a year and earn around 50-75k in commission that you'll never see for your corporate mogul bosses. After working here I have spoken to FOUR OTHER AGENCIES WHERE YOU GET PAID FOR PLACEMENTS IMMEDIATELY. The turnover is exceptionally low - in under a year, 50 people (of over a hundred recruiters in our large metropolitan office) left for other jobs. The people who stay are bitter and deeply unhappy. It's not just because it's sales - bosses are regularly demoted for thinking only about making money rather than their teams (I have seen this on two separate occasions), toxic shame is used to motivate but just ends up feeling extremely degrading, and it's a white male-dominated space that's super gross feeling.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your recruiters and you'll get more use out of them. Hire bosses that stand up for their team. Actually care about employee culture - I have seen too many men touch women inappropriately at office parties, whistle at them in the office, talk about coworkers in a sexually gross way, etc; the culture is an HR nightmare. Advocate for better health insurance. And get rid of the top management that uses company-wide calls as an opportunity to shame and humiliate people in order to motivate them. It's terrible. There are articles about how this is bad management everywhere, and as someone in the staffing industry, you should know better than to be the horrible bosses you claim to protect candidates from.

    Run-of-the-mill environment, bonus structure purposely complicated, corporate culture is churn & burn, rather hire talent than promote from within.
