I worked at Robert Walters (More than a year)

    Pros

The founder and the President of RW NY (KK) is a great manager, always here to help, encourage and bring new ideas.
The team is international and really good at what they do, always in a good mood.
The office itself is amazing and the possibilities to grow are real.

    Cons

According to me, the only Cons is that RW is a British listed company... but it is also a worldwide leader! You can't get everything ;)

    Advice to Management

The Management is doing great for more than 15 years and for sure it will last for long!

I have been working at Robert Walters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The business has so much growth potential and so to join at this time couldn't be better!
The team profit share creates a very collaborative environment making it an immediately welcoming workforce to enter in to. There is a good feel for flexibility and some really strong billers to learn from. It will be a challenge but one I'm very much looking forward to succeeding in. Offices are pretty spectacular too!

    Cons

Working in Times Square means buying lunch out each day can become expensive so it's a good idea to be disciplined enough sometimes to bring your own food in!

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to ask current employees for feedback and keep evolving!

I worked at Robert Walters full-time

    Pros

Great team of people, global opportunities available.

    Cons

    KPI driven, highly competitive.

    Advice to Management

Encouragement and positive reinforcement goes a long way. Managers should focus on their team not their individual billing.

    Pros

Great company culture, excellent training, quality systems in comparison to most competitors.

    Cons

Difficulty balancing administrative tasks with production responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Stronger support for top producers would lead to more time spent on production vs administration.

I worked at Robert Walters full-time

    Pros

Strong corporate infrastructure and training/support of those entering the recruitment industry. Good brand recognition in many markets. Diverse industry coverage. Opportunity for career advancement likely, though not within the organization.

    Cons

Once past the 'novice/beginner' level, the 'intermediate' level can be quite tedious in terms of challenge/reward for those looking to make a career there. Performance metrics tend to focus too much on actions even when achieving strong results. Can be good for those who need micro management but not for those who don't.

    Advice to Management

    Compensation could be less opaque.

Currently Robert Walters is working towards a more flexible workplace which takes a while for everyone to find a way that works since we work in a team based environment.

    - well known brand that is recognised in the market
    - international opportunities for top performers
    - working hours are much better than they used to be
    - overall, a great place to work because of the people and the career development opportunities

    Cons

    - there can be a lack of transparency and communication but this has improved
    - largely dependant on bulge bracket clients

    -Embrace new technology
    - Urge individuals to work outside of the normal RW PSL's by remunerating BD consultants with higher bonuses

I worked at Robert Walters full-time

    Pros

Good training, international exposure, good marketing & PR department, decent branding, good infrastructure, everything done for you, access to most if not all PSL accounts

    Cons

Poor commission structure (always has been, this will never change), cant attract the best consultants/managers in the market because of last point, quite cliquey, high turnover at consultant and above level, became KPI/admin heavy, RPO business growing more than agency business

    Advice to Management

Change your commission structure, it is not a USP and doesn't actually add any value to clients or candidates - in doing so, you'll attract better quality team members who will stay in the business
