I have been working at Roche Bros. Supermarkets part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked at Roche Brothers for several years. The company was a very good strong one. Today the environment has changed. It is no longer a family feel. It is becoming aloof and cold. I don't feel part of the family, I am now just a number, do your job. Do it well or not, doesn't matter your raise will always be 35 cents. No reason to put a better foot forward.

    Cons

The new minimum wage just went up to $11.00. For all employees that were hired prior to this are working for less. A wage adjustment needs to be made. When asked (Manager) they rail road you with excuses and they say it doesn't apply. I believe it is the Law.

    Advice to Management

Make wage adjustments for the minimum wage increase to prior employees. Wendy's increased there prior employees (who were making $11.00) $1.00. They now make $12.00 (recent)

    Pros

Management is always in the store, and they are very friendly. They work alongside the employees all day rather than staying inside an office room.

    Cons

Very few benefits. They gave us a 5% discount card and then that was taken away after 1 year. Customers are difficult to deal with. Managers can be strict.

    Advice to Management

Work on benefits for employees. Try to create a friendly atmosphere.

    Pros

The majority of managers are fair and understanding, they accommodate your needs for schedule change.
    Pay isn't bad
    Most coworkers are quite pleasant

    Cons

    Job is stressful at times
    Disorganized work area
Job itself is not complex but process of completing the job requires fine tuning.
    Some rude employees

    Advice to Management

Look into streamlining job process and making better more efficient use of employees, make day and night shift employees clearly understand what is required of them as the day and night shift employees tend to be working against each other.

I have been working at Roche Bros. Supermarkets (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Family company, great associates, involved in the community. Company was founded on great customer service and continues to be a pillar in the communities it serves. The Roche's hold their customers in very high regard

    Cons

Inconsistency among upper management. Lack of shared vision among senior management. Recent growth in the company has led way to so difference in the direction this company should move and as a result it has begun to lose sight of its mission statement

    Advice to Management

Remember the qualities that helped build the company. As with every company that expands, change is inevitable but losing focus of what has made you the company that has grown to this size could prove to weaken the foundation on which it stands.

    Pros

Intense, high energy workplace, good alert management. High quality in all phases of the store, especially the foods section.

    Cons

SIX days mandatory work schedule for all full-timers. ALL weekends, ALL holidays (unless you happen to have your ONE day off that particular day.)

    Advice to Management

Be more clear when hiring full-timers, let them know about the work schedule! Maybe start working working with a union would be a good idea?
