I have been working at RockYou full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Rockyou is the only company I've worked for that is generous with promotions and compensation. The manager I have is very knowledgeable and dedicated. We are allowed to work from home. Meals are paid for and vacation is unlimited. Plenty of things to do. Ideas are welcome and discussed not rejected.

We have weekly event nights and special events as well. The group is very fun to work with but also are hard workers.

    Cons

    Not for you if:
    - Aren't willing to earn your salary
    - Don't like to get your hands dirty
    - Don't like change
    - Don't think outside the box

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that policy changes should be reviewed by upper and high level management before implementation

I worked at RockYou full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly, well-meaning coworkers. Compensation was good. Fun until you begin to see the politics.

    Cons

Company business model constantly shifting without much foresight. CEO has managed to stay put, although her management style is troubling. She instills a clique environment and strives to prove she's the coolest kid in school. Multiple rounds of layoffs during my tenure there decimated employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Take management classes and refrain from overly socializing with employees.

I worked at RockYou full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees are genuine and work hard. Compensation is okay but nothing as to what's considered competitive in the current industry.

    Cons

Executives are the most unorganized and obnoxious as they come. You have to be a part of their "clique" to be noticed or not laid off. CEO does not know how run the company.

    I worked at RockYou full-time

    Pros

Nice snacks and free lunch twice a week. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

CEO is mean and unprofessional and always ends up doing massive layoffs year after year. Went on acquisition spree and loaded company up with debt. Company has no future unless management is changed.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent and professional people -- change the culture and figure out a more interesting business.

I worked at RockYou full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance is great. Salary and benefits are up to par. Commuter benefits are awesome. Catered lunches on a daily basis. 10 minute walk from BART.

    Cons

Executive team is incompetent and especially the CEO is a joke. High school mentality, at times it feels like you are part of the movie "Mean Girls". CEO has double standards and you have to be part of her clique to get somewhere. Because of all the acquisitions it doesn't feel like one company.

    Advice to Management

Get a new CEO with a company vision that makes sense and is not focussed on ad-hoc, short term results.

    Pros

Terrific salary, good medical, decent 401k, great commuter benefits, lunch provided every day, good work-life balance. Totally spoiled!

Clear (from what I could tell) communication of business status and strategy through regular company and team meetings. Company meetings were accompanied with visuals (slide presentations) and speakers from multiple departments – they didn't seem to try to hide anything, and really seemed to be looking out for the company and the employees.

Team and company outings and office events.

    Cons

Not that it was their fault: a lack of interesting new projects.

    Advice to Management

No advice, just the hopes that you'll continue to re-invent yourselves and be successful!

    Pros

Actually a pleasant place to work. Good food, nice building, friendly peeps.

    Cons

You are either on the inside or you are not. It is really like a high school lunch room. If you are not one of the "cool kids", make sure your resume is polished. It is dangerous to disagree with cool kid and will not end well for you.

    Advice to Management

Read the reviews and make an effort to change.
