    Pros

Location is great and the campus is beautiful Many opportunities to hear great scientific talks Small graduate program

    Cons

Not many serious courses offered, most are lecture series PI mentorship and lab culture varies widely Students can get lost in post-doc heavy labs Most students spend more than 5 years

    Graduate program

    Pros

Great minds (in-house and invited lecturers), vast resources, amazing housing opportunities, stimulating environment, outstanding job benefits, (small) but gorgeous campus.

    Cons

Small number of graduate students (no undergrad program) this only if you are looking for a larger-campus college experience. Independent drive is greatly encouraged, since most labs do not micro-manage students (I guess this is also a Pro).

Highly competitive, elite research institute that is something of a relic of bygone days.

    Pros

Lots of institutional money, great daycare/school for families, good health benefits, beautiful campus, top notch research, lots of flexibility and freedom in terms of the direction you take your work

    Cons

Gender inequity, no diversity, something of a company town, where University controls all aspects of your life (housing, healthcare, children’s school), mafia like in their management of professional conflict, pressure and pay people to keep quiet, no ombudsman/third party arbitration.
