Account Specialist
Dec 7, 2015 - Rock Connections- Account Specialist in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Rock Connections at Quicken Loans offers a fun and competition based work environment that's perfect for recent college grads and any outgoing professionals.
Cons
As an account specialist you have to deal with lots of rude people over the phone, and the hours can tend to drag as a result.

Stress and pipe dreams.
May 29, 2016 - Mortgage Banker in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you're one of the lucky few the money you can make is crazy. The company invests a lot in their employees in terms of training and creating a good work place environment.
Cons
Stressful environment that is riddled with work place politics. Most people there are miserable but they wear their happy mask because the money is good, that is if you get the money. The tier system they have is very rewarding for the top 10-20% of people and very damaging for everyone else. Dont expect a long career in the mortgage banking position, the majority of people quit within the first year, and those who stay are either in management positions (very lucrative and lighter schedule) or top tier producers who work with the best leads (and make the most money) everyone else gets burned out and doesnt make enough to justify the crazy hours. 60+ hours a week is normal, i did it for over 6 months. Management is good and bad, the senior members are great in general, but team leaders are a hit or miss. There are bankers there who make 10-20K a month, and the company will always remind you of those people to keep you around, but the majority of bankers never see this money. If you are willing to put in hard work, politic your way through the schemes, not get sick because you'll lose your place in the tier system (and make way less money) and always pretend that you're pumped up even if you're not then this is the place for you. Those who make it do make it, but the majority dont. Be ready for 12 hour shifts and a 30 minute lunch and really short weekends.

A great work place and culture
Aug 7, 2014 - Intern in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The work environment is great! My team members are nice motivated people that all want to help each other and work as a team. The company values its culture and ideas much more than most other companies, and the culture fosters growth and development in the company. The leadership treats their team members well and are always helpful when needed. The company has a relaxed work environment with no formal dress code and many events for its employees. Encourages everyone to contribute ideas, not just the senior leadership.
Cons
The hours are long depending on the area of the business that you work, and the pay is not always great. You could definitely make more money somewhere else, but you won't find the fantastic work environment many other places.

Pros
Great benefits, vacation time is great. Free parking downtown It’s just ok and yes I’m still here. Its hard for Christian’s to work there. We have to keep our mouths shut about our beliefs.
Cons
Cultish atmosphere Very unprofessional environment especially with team members and leaders in this dept. No incentives since 2020 Over time has not been offered in 6 months on the weekends Leaders cause a loud work environment that is out of control and hard to work in. Pay sucks especially during this economy

A sports culture that will push you beyond your comfort zone.

QL has one of the most dynamic and fun environments to work in that I've ever seen. Probably only rivaled by Google or Pixar. The feeling you get in EVERY building is very much like the Jurassic Park reference of 'spared no expense.' I'm typing this on my retina display Mac Book Pro, my dual monitors, and my elevating desk.. and that's pretty standard around here. This company definitely has no problem spending money on tech or design and decor. It also has a rather unique sports culture founded on the company's ISMs - standards and ways of thinking that everyone is asked to adopt. You'll find yourself right at home here if you love high standards, growing to your potential, and like many major sports themed cultures, being asked to do 5 more pushups when you think you can only to 2 more. I've grown SO much by being here and it's been an experience I recommend for everyone.
Cons
Work-life balance is the number one reason team members leave QL. Expect many positions to be production-focused and compensated based on performance. This is not your standard 9-5 type of place. If you are young and having nothing but free time, you won't mind, because the harder you work the more you make. But if you're a family person with a spouse and kids, don't plan on making it home for dinner.

fun and enjoyable work environment
Cons
everything not mentioned above especially hours
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
great culture, fun team, downtown Detroit. Unlimited snacks, benefits and a gyms and cafeterias in one campus Martius. Lots of activities and such as well.
Cons
Cons would be the pay. I know it's a younger generation work environment but m student loans are double my salary and they aren't crazy big. We don't get commissions and price of city living is rising. I'm sure I'll get hunted down for this one.

My experience at Quicken Loans and the QL family of companies has been very fulfilling
Aug 11, 2014 - Project Manager in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The companies have amazing culture, diversity, and opportunities. QL cares about their team members and offers a vibrant work environment where you are allowed to pursue and mold your career.
Cons
Sometimes coaching lacks structure or depth. It's hard to remember this company is still young.

An amazing work place with amazing people who have a strong passion for what they do.
May 11, 2012 - Intern in Detroit, MIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As an intern it was nice to work in a creative environment like Quicken Loans. I was part of the team and given important projects to work on that most companies would not give to an intern. It was very inspiring to come to work every day.
Cons
A lot of things were learn on your own, I felt like I would have received more from my internship if I was shown processes better.
