I have been working at Rockhill Insurance Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, good management, personable attitudes, easy going and a warm place to work.

If you do your job and voice your concerns, people listen. If you are a hard worker, people notice. If you need a break, people understand...

Even on cold days I do not dread coming to work.

    Cons

    No cons for me personally

    Advice to Management

Tap into the skills that those on your team posses. Do not assume folks are incapable of succeeding at difficult tasks without asking them first. There is a wealth of knowledge here... use it.

I have been working at Rockhill Insurance Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

No matter if you work hard or don't work at all, they will not fire you.

    Cons

Management plays favorites and it shows. You're an outcast if you work. If you smoke, whether it is marijuana or cigarettes, you can have all the smoke breaks you want, if you don't, then you are prohibited from leaving your desk. If your kids do not play with managements kids on the weekends, you can kiss any kind of pay raise (2% if you are lucky) goodbye. Anytime something bad happens to the chosen few, excuses make sure no one hears about it, but if you are not a favorite, then you are instantly threatened to be let go and it will go in your permanent file. Good news is they are too lazy to actually do anything, they would rather talk about their manga erotica stories they write when they are supposed to be working.

    Advice to Management

Bring back drug screenings and if a employee comes to work either dealing drugs on property or obviously intoxicated each day to the point that customers are complaining, then maybe new office management is needed and not another team building exercise.

I worked at Rockhill Insurance Group (More than a year)

    Pros

There was a small group atmosphere which was good. Management was always very responsive and helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

Little room for growth or promotion. Bonuses were limited and it compensation was capped. Being far from HR hurt and felt disconnected from the company.

    Pros

Some very accomplished and bright individuals work here. The Plaza location is a nice place to work. Good exposure to specialty/niche P&C insurance. Many facets of insurance interacting together. Small organization (40 employees). Profitable organization.

    Cons

No concept whatsoever of employee value or loyalty. A fear-driven culture where senior management politically ostricizes and disspells any individual brighter than themselves. Some really bright & valuable employees have been chased out of Rockhill for this very reason. Truly an elitist bureaucracy which provides no communication or outlets to the rest of the staff. Owned & managed by a far bigger insurance entity, whose presence is distant and incompatible with Rockhill's culture. Senior management is simply absent of any vision, creativity or willingness to change.

    Advice to Management

Rockhill's senior management doesn't want any advice.

    Pros

Paydays, and bonuses...that's about it. Good people work here. They have Starbuck's coffee in the break room, and free Mountain Dew.

    Cons

Despondent management team who could care less about their employees. Run like an elitist bureaucracy. Owned by a larger insurance company.

    Advice to Management

Stop running your organization as an elitist bureaucracy. Discover that people and ideas are what makes business successful, not your egos.
