I worked at Rockwell Automation as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of creative freedom. I worked in the PCB functional test department. The experience was awesome. I got to learn everything from how board are solders and tested to how to designed board. There was always a project to work on. It was one of the best places to start my career.

    Cons

It was a contract position. Permanent positions were not available at the time. Benefits were non existent.

I have been working at Rockwell Automation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Outstanding benefits package. Year end bonuses depend on a number of global factors. I have rec'd bonuses ranging from $1500 to $6700. Work above and beyond the call of duty is recognized and rewarded. They promote from within. Management super-flexible (may be different if you are a production employee) with work hours. This is the first job I have ever had where I was not actively seeking other employment. I will retire here. I have been here 8yrs.

    Cons

None that I can think of! I am VERY happy here!

I worked at Rockwell Automation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Customers always came first. Team work mentality with other employees or departments was outstanding. Managers were flexible with personal or family appointments. Consistent training done on a continuous basis for upgrades or procedure changes. Managers highly knowledgeable in all aspects of their division.

    Cons

International inter-company communications regarding direction/action were sometimes slow in urgent situations. Not always allowed extra vacation time off during Christmas and New Year when most other departments were always off. Of course it does depend on ones position though and what they do.

I have been working at Rockwell Automation as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities, room to move around, competitive pay/benefits, knowledgeable HR, thorough coverage of future possibilities at Rockwell through Career Week

    Cons

None that I've encountered (I know, shocking)

    Advice to Management

None, the two training programs put in place by both managers that I've worked under are excellent

I worked at Rockwell Automation as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great People
    Interested Management
Opportunity to advance and be mentored

    Cons

There is a rising culture of contracted work. The contractors are great capable people who are looking for opportunity and Rockwell exploits them in order to keep appearances of stability. After all laying off or getting rid of temp staff never looks as bad as having massive full time layoffs

    Advice to Management

Look to the workforce that is available and hire on contractors with great potential. Do not look over the gold that is in your yard for the change that is in anothers
