Pros
Cons
  • Opportunities outside of Cedar Rapids are slim (in 121 reviews)

  • I'd rather be an intern than full time as there doesn't seem to be much of a work/life balance once you're hired full time (in 22 reviews)

I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Even though it's a large global company, the culture makes it feel like a smaller place that cares about each employee. They have onsite cafeterias, day care, gyms, and wellness programs. They encourage their employees to go for higher education and even have tuition assistance.

    Cons

Overall the company vibe is great, but there are few departments or business units where morale is lower. If you're interested in working for Rockwell I would do your homework about where in the company you'll be working.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on your employees happiness and well being and you will retain your devoted and loyal workforce. I only left because I had to move out of state!

I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company prides itself on having a culture of integrity, and this is no joke. They pay extremely close attention to make sure they deliver on their word. They are also highly efficient and spend lots of money and effort at developing the leanest possible processes so that it's just the way everyone thinks. The company tries to stay one step ahead in terms of technology. And the people are just nice. Highly recommend this company.

    Cons

Location, location, location. Cedar Rapids is a little far away from most of my family and is also far away from most of its nearest cultural centers (besides Iowa City)

    Advice to Management

I don't really have much advice for the management. Maybe "keep up the good work"? The managers that I had were very good at their jobs.

I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The best place I ever worked was at Love Field! The people there are like a functional family, and have a great sense of humor and a very professional work atmosphere. They took time to ensure everyone received appropriate training and gave serious opportunities to everyone for advanced training and even encourage advanced education. I was invited to represent Rockwell internationally. This is a place to can stay and grow for a lifetime.

    Cons

Can't think of any. Really decent folks work there.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for all the opportunities you trusted me with. I really learned a lot from all of you.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins full-time

    Pros

    Great hours, plus good benifits

    Cons

hard to move up, can be repetitive

    Advice to Management

There is a lot of favoritism which makes it hard to see others that are less qualified get a job that you're more qualified for just because the other person is their friend.

    Pros

Management was very willing to work to with me and make sure that I was always achieving my goals. Fellow coworkers were always willing to help me wherever needed

    Cons

I cannot think of any real big downsides of working for the company. Having a bigger cubicle would have been better, though.
