I have been working at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is pretty descent, standard benefits, vacation and sick days. Flex time, 9/80 schedules, and work from home. Yearly bonus, education funded, they have low turnover and reward longevity with rewards.

    Cons

Managers from Cedar Rapids don't understand processes that work well for a production run of thousands don't work for building 3 simulators. the burden of using SAP and the purchase system is outrageous.

    Advice to Management

Don't screw-up the culture during the meager with UTC. Tell Glassdoor to get the right CEO, Kelly Ortberg. Clay has been retired almost 4 years now.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good company that is finally starting to bring in a younger perspective.

    Cons

Policies and Procedures are onerous and excessive

    Advice to Management

Utilize change management strategies. Major changes are incorporated with little or no change management.

    Pros

Good benefits - winter shutdown is a perk. 9/80 flex schedule is nice. Health insurance is decent but with high deductibles (which seem to be the norm now). Good work/life balance. People are great to work with.

    Cons

Lots of disconnect between remote sites and HQ. Unstable environment

I worked at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are many good people working there.

    Cons

Headquarters is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the outlying areas tend to get forgotten. Benefits are horrible since the company used Obamacare minimum requirements to offset poor numbers in the annual report.

    Advice to Management

Moral is low, long-time employees are leaving the company, too many contracts are being lost.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Talented engineers and program managers. Casual and flexible work environment. Working on training systems for the war fighter provides great sense of fulfillment and pride.

    Cons

Low morale due to year-after-year layoffs and lack of new substantial contracts. Hiring of new engineering talent has been stagnant for years. These conditions promote a doomsday environment with a perception that the company is going under.

    Advice to Management

Win a few simulator contracts with substantial NRE work for your engineers and I guarantee morale will improve 100%

I worked at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time

    Pros

Highly technical environment with outstanding program managers and engineers. The work they do is top notch and they are always working on front edge technology

    Cons

The management team is absolutely clueless to the market they are working in. They are "company men/women" that have no desire to tell the upper management that corporate pricing and processes are making them non competitive in the marketplace. This caused a 30% reduction in force and they still have not changed

    Advice to Management

Get a clue about the market that you are in. Your competitors are running circles around you and yet you fail to change

    Pros

    Cons

Company keeps shrinking due to very bad leadership decisions.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your engineers

I worked at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions full-time

    Pros

Rockwell Collins provided plenty of training for Lean Certification and work-related tasks.

    Cons

Always want employees to bill to program. If employee was not on a program, temporarily, required employee to bill to "General Time" but did not allow employee to provide improvements.
