    Pros

Not really any except being close to Princeton marketplace.

    Cons

So many. Worshipped the CEO as if he were a some sort of untouchable God. Very very weird, from the twilight zone.

I have been working at Rockwood Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Encouragement and teamwork among my colleagues is prevalent. Pressed for first-class thinking and work product at all times

    Cons

Because of small corporate office, little room for growth (unless you are wont to consider overseas or major US move in next assignment.

  4. "zero chance of a promotion here"

    Pros

salary, bonus structure, Princeton location, decent hours. Also, most employees here are very nice people who are friendly and caring.

    Cons

zero chance of any promotion here. In fact there are no employee evaluations here. Expect to stay at you current title forever at Rockwood.

    Advice to Management

promote from within instead of going outside every time a position opens up, there are some bright employees here if you looked closely.

  5. "Tax Dept is a mess - Stay away from that dept"

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The corporate office is very small. Maybe 30 employees so there is no room for growth or career advancement. Most people in the tax department stay a year or two and then leave for greener pastures. That's why the tax dept only recruits college grads. But they too leave after a year or two.

    Cons

Mgmt doesn't care about its employees. Human Resources and any form of communication is non-existant with the exception a Rockwood employee meeting maybe once or twice a year.

    Advice to Management

Try to retain your employees and make them feel appreciated. There's more to making them feel happy then just a good bonus.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Decent Pay, decent bonuses, nice 401K contribution plan.

    Cons

Management has no clue in what they are doing in the tax dept.

    Advice to Management

Give the employees an annual review. Make raises based on the review and not simply 2-3% accross the board. It's very hard to be motivated here when you know there is absolutely no hope for a promotion. I have never seen a single employee receive any promotion here, ever!

I worked at Rockwood Holdings as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very nice group of people. Great Hours.

    Cons

Antiquated Systems with questionable contracted support.

  8. "OK"

    • Career Opportunities

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Small office structure, if you're into working with small groups. Good pay, but you'll have to decide whether or not its worth it. It's pretty worth it if you're an intern, no so much if you're ft.

    Cons

Limited training, no room for growth unless someone leaves. Departments were sometimes and often times behind or confused.

  9. "Good company, just sometimes clueless"

I worked at Rockwood Holdings part-time

    Pros

Good pay, and the people there are pretty nice. It's a lot of hands on work, so you so end up learning a lot.

    Cons

A lot of the times it felt very confusing because a lot of people didn't know what they were doing. Somewhat disorganized and not very structured especially in the tax department. Potential growth is very low unless if someone leaves.

  10. "No Human Resources, so no real effort from me"

I worked at Rockwood Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No employee evaluations so I only worked at 5% of my capacity. Why bother? I was on the same bonus plan as everyone else and it's not like my raise would have any effect based on how hard I worked.

    Cons

The Legal department controls the company. They are the ones who decide to give you the 1-2% raise - your boss has zero say.

    Advice to Management

You should hire a human resource staff instead so employees would actually care to put in some effort.
